Question:
I have lost my career, home, vehicle. Did time in prison, and now have a felony on my record. Been clean for about 6 months. Although I still smoke pot sometimes, when the urge to use again is powerfull. I 12 step and have a sponsor,

I just got out of prison

Answers:
Stay with your sponsor and be tough!
I also go to AA and have a wonderful God sent Doctor who helped me.
Her husband has taken my wife to Al anon and has been talking to her about going to Narc anon.
I pray you stay clean. You can rebuild your life but the key is hanging with the right people.

Peace Bro. seriously, I'm proud to have read your question, stay clean.
Do you have a MySpace account? A buddy of mine from High School got into Meth at a tough time in his life and it nearly killed him until he decided to clean himself up ... http://www.myspace.com/pastorjay1675... if you want a perspective from someone who's been through a Meth addiction. I, myself, haven't tried too many drugs.
If you still smoke dope; you're not clean; and if you realize that one drug ruined your life... how come you can't see that dope will have you down that same path again before you know it?

It seems like you're not ready to take responsibility for your life yet; once you get rid of the drugs completely... ask for advice again...
i honestly have never been addicted to drugs but believe in your self, anyone can start over, everyone has a past and everyone makes mistakes, surround yourself with supportive people and if people are negative leave them behind. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO>
Hey man, i just wanted to give you a word of encouragement. i haven't gone through what you have man. But I just wanted to say congratulations on your six months and getting a sponsor but lets work on the pot thing man. Also, i don't know if you believe in God or not but he is always a great alternative to any of your problems man. Just try him out.
God Bless,
D.J.

P.S. - Stick to it. Don't relapse, it will be harder to come out of once that drug sees that it can pull you back in it will know it has control over you.
Hang in there! I have worked with people who have felony records for years and it really doesn't have to affect your life that much if you change your life. If you have been off the meth for 6 months are are still struggling you may be self medicating. If meth calms you down, check with a mental health professional and have an evaluation. Most substance abuse counselors don't see drug use as a mental health problem. But it can be and is more often that is realized. Good luck
You just have to know when enough is enough and be ready to take your life back.I think there's a breaking point when you just get so fed up with the life style.I finally realized how much of my life i was missing.I struggled for years i turned my life around 360 degrees lost contact with all my so called friends and got new positive ones. I had one friend that took me to church a lot and it really helped a lot. that was 9 years ago i haven't touched a thing but a beer here and there and never have the urge. Ive owned my own business now for the last 6 years. Just hang in there and know in your heart that it is very possible to stay clean but you really have to want it for yourself and nobody else but yourself. good luck
I have been an addict since I was 13yrs old I'm 27 now.I was addicted to weed,acid,shrooms,meth,exstasy... most of all cocaine.I have hurt many people including myself spent too much time in jail too much money on lawyers risking it all for drugs.I also am bi-polar , I am almost 3weeks clean I know that doesn't sound like much but it is.I won't lie it is definately not easy but it can be done.I joined this web site it's called SMART RECOVERY it is really helpfull. The site is free they have txt and voice chat meetings everyday a 24/7 chat room theres always people who r in the same situation to talk too.You should really look into it.If you join look for me my screen name is jdf-27.Good luck!
Well, your past may be ruined, but try not to focus on that too much. Focus on your future now and all the good that can come out of it by staying drug free. I wish you luck.
well done for getting this far
just stay focused and determined to being completly free
of the meths chains holding you back
and free forever ,you lost things you can replace in the future
you didnt lose your life, thats the main thing
people have to start all over again from scratch
for many different reasons, yours was meth
at least you are alive and have a oppurtunity
to start fresh
thats the way to see it
WOW!

I have never done it, but I just went through some courses to understand what kind of drugs are out there for my kids and the affects they have. And from what I saw meth is really addictive. You must be really strong to have gotten this far.

http://www.montanameth.org/ This website is incredible.

I think if you really want to stay clean, you are going to have to make some tough choices. About friends and life style. I wish you find the strength to go ahead, now is perhaps the hardest time you have to face. The point where you know what you don't want, but don't know how to go forward.

See if you can go to job counseling, or anything that will keep you really busy. If you just slip back into you past haunts you may have to go through it all again. Find something you want, and start working for it.

Stay strong,
green terra
Revist the 12-steps for encouragement but try the Rational Emotive Behavour Therapy way. It's in the book, The Universal 12-Step Program and there are exercises at the end of each chapter. After doing the exercises, you can see yourself from a rational viewpoint. I rented it from my local library.
