Just curious..?

Question:
I was wondering what i should do... my dad wants me to see some therapist and most people think that i am emo and that i am depressed. I know that i have some depression problems, but i don't want to have to start taking some medication. HELP!

Answers:
Therapist/psychologist don't prescribe medication. Psychiatrist prescribe medication.

Refuse to go to a psychiatrist if you don't want to take medication.
If the doctor prescribes you some medication, take it, you will feel much better, more confident, more everything.
I take Prozac and it has worked wonders for me.
no one can make you take meds. the therapy can help all on its own without the meds.
Most people are not your dad and your dad knows you better than anyone. Also, people without degrees are not qualified to give you any type of diagnosis or advice. What you need to do is find out the underlying reason for your depression and get the help you need so that you can go on to experience quality of life. Not everyone needs medication but for those who do medication is not a bad thing. If you had diabetes you wouldn't deny yourself insulin. Again, everyone is different and you may only need counseling but regardless, follow your dad's advice and at least find out the underlying reason for your depression and how best it can be treated.
You have the choice not to medicate even if its recommended but speak with a professional to get accurate information. Don't deny yourself the help you need based on opinions of non professional because they are not helping you.. Good luck!
