Answers:
Yes, their are medications especially ones used for surgeries that can produce a drug induced amnesia
right. there are a lot of things that I simply **choose** not to remember, but all you're realy doing is shutting away this little festering bubble of unpleasent thought. Your memories are extremely pliable, and if you convince yourself something didn't happen, then you will eventually come to question if it did happen, and in this way be able to say it simply didn't happen. But it will ultimately come back to haunt you, manifesting in dreams or reality. Not reccomended.
Not in the way that I think you mean. What others are suggesting is to not think about your memories or block them out. That's not really amnesia. The only way I have heard of to actually induce amnesia (though it is a side effect of it, not the reason for it) is Electric Shock Therapy. It is used in depressed patients to stabilize their moods and one of the major side effects is amnesia. But even with that, you can't choose what you do and don't remember. Some people forget their loved ones, while others forget just a few minor incidents. Also, the memories usually come back within six months. It's very subjective, but it definitely causes a form of amnesia. If you're talking about inducing amnesia where you forget everything for a certain period of time, or you forget certain things forever...then no, that's not possible. I wish it was too!!
