Look... everybody has some techniques (to study harder, be focused, etc) that works for her/him, but does not necessarily work for others. But little by little you can develop your own techniques that work the best for you.

Here are few techniques I use. You can try them out to see if they suit you:

- Set rewards for yourself: like say, I can spend half an hour on myspace/msn as soon as I learn this subject, or do these exercises from the book, but not before that. If you don't feel like studying, you can't go on myspace either.

- When you are bored, study the subject you like the best. Just study for the heck of it, not for exam, or anything. Read extra books.

- Have study plans with a friend. Like, say we will learn this chapter till Monday, and then on Monday meet and discuss about your problems, etc.

- Don't study for exams, but for learning things. Don't restrict yourself to your textbooks. Research about things you find curious.

- Hang out with those friends of yours who are into studying. (But don't forget the others;-))

- Reserve some time (night? weekend?) for free. Do whatever you like. Go out with your friends or family. Spend time on myspace. ...
i think you need to balance it out, i know what you mean i was always like this at uni.

if u have no life and study all day then you might not stick at it, because it wont be fun at all..

perhaps draw up a schedule with your mum, and stick it to the wall - 1 hour a night on MSN and my space and getting all the info you need for your studies off the internet while you're at it and then for every hour you can do 1 hour studying. but knock the laptop off because if u dont shut it down you will go back to it, but hopefully the thought of having to restart it will put you off. then spend an hour doing something else you like like watching tv and then another hour on study and then 1 hour with your mum eating your dinner.
I have found that it is practically impossible to cure procrastination through motivational speeches etc. Try more unorthodox methods, like getting your friends to use scare tactics on you. Do you like cattle prods?
It just about concentration & not letting ur mind wander when u study...
I was rarely told to study by my parents when i was old enough to understnd its importance...
Just dedicate ur time...for study & other things...
when u study u just study & when u done with ur quota for the day... u can do any thing u want with the rest of the day...with a free mind...
dont, its not worth it. enjoy life while ur young and worry abouit the crap u did when u get older. just try to get average grades, thats good enough. school is not that important.
Ok, i tend to lack discipline as well - especially with dieting. i cannot resist chocolates and it's made me overweight!! What I try to do is tell myself how bad I'll feel about myself if I DON"T achieve what I set out to achieve. For example, I'll ask myself how bad I will feel about myself if I eat junk instead of a healthy salad. Also treat yourself. Reward yourself with 30 mins on the internet for 30 mins study. Think of how good you will feel about yourself!! And try to envision how good you will feel about yourself once you have gottne into university!!
The problem is a motivational problem. You must first realize that there are consequences involved that will be with you for the rest of your life.

Make a list of the ways you think your not studying can and will effect your quality of the rest of your life. Think of the lack of choices you will have In the level of creature comfort you will be able to achieve. That would include the choices of spouses you could attract. Your financial status would be greatly diminished with a second rate education. Your self esteem will cause you to resent your self, possibly hate yourself for the chances you throw away to better yourself.

It is your choice to become a stump watching trivia and playing video games. You will be the one to pay the consequences for such a choice, and it is a choice simply made by changing, or by doing nothing about your perceived problem with your self.

You as an individual must do this for yourself. It is not necessary to be a study freak to succeed, an adjustment in your time management is needed. Set rules for your self that are not so strict that they have no chance to succeed. A most important rule, is never to break your own rules. The punishment for that is in distrusting yourself and hating yourself for it. You can never get away from your self so the consequences for that are yours for life.

Bottom line; choices you make now are choices you must live with, along with the what those choices bring with them into the rest of your life.
yeah i was like you before, exactly!
i was not so lazy to study but no one there to push me but at last i get some method!

see if you wanna study you feel like oh god what I'm doing and its boring stuff like that..

tell yourself that you have to do it, and by that mean sacrifices!

are you ready to make it?

if don't you will end up as a minimum payment worker with no future.. u want that kind of life?

if don't, if you feel sure that you are born to be more better than that, go and study!

i tell you now I'm in college, and i really recommend that study is important!

education always comes first!

and hell yeah that many people keep saying that education is not fully important in our life there is other factor that remain like fate, work hard , blah blah...

just one thing we know that education is important so why you have to follow tha others factor which are not visible, how many people can achieve good job with our education??

so there it goes, I'm not saying you to become like a geek that study alot, im not like that i go out, party and all...

but discipline that really important, its hard at first but keep reminding your self about this all factor i just tell you..

gud luck!
