How can I overcome the fear of going back to work?

Question:
2 years ago I was a succesful manager. Had gotten promoted and had been working in marketing for 7 years. Then a serious depression caught me. My boss talked to me saying that my productivity had fallen a lot. I quit my job. For a year I did something else. Started teaching english classes in an institute. Now I want to go back to marketing. But my insecurities have risen. I am insecure that I won´t be able to fullfil my job, I´m scared to meet new people and adapt to the new job. How can I overcome this fear?..By the way: I have been in psychiatric therapy and am taking meds.

Answers:
Go to work for a boss you can really respect and like and who supports you. Work in the industry where you have the strongest knowlege base, as the familiarity and confidence from your job history will resurface and return your confidence. Make friends at the new job with the warmest and most positive people and not the gossips or the unhappy ones. Stay in therapy and stay on your meds while you adjust until or if the doctor takes you off.
You clearly have it in you to be successful again. You have alot of professional experience and knowlege under your belt to draw upon. Reject negative thoughts as soon as they pop up.
Have at least one family/friend person who can be your encourager while you move back into working.
You need to talk this over with your therapist he/she would be better to help you
There's a great book out called "Real Magic" by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. It teaches you how to be happy, successful, healthy and prosperous in daily life through positive thinking. You may need a medication adjustment - either more medication or something different. Good Luck!
look at how sucsessful that u were bacc in tha day, dont u think u can still achive those goals if u listen 2 ur heart and not your boss? besides your boss might have not been so sincere because alot of bosses are just so egotistical that they would git rid of there best worker just becasue ther better than them.so i think u should go bacc 2 work and u will make it!!
I think most people are fearful of making changes in their lives. Everyone I know who has started a new job has felt this way. Every child who starts a new year at school feels the same. How do you get through it? It's all about pushing yourself past your comfort zone. Those who go out and do well, are the ones who push the fear aside and do it anyway. Don't give yourself an out. Tell yourself you HAVE got to do it, there's no choice. Think of a soldier in battle, they have fear also, but they don't run away. The soldier will do the job anyway.
