I know someone on Social Security Disability...?

Question:
My question in whole is this.
I know someone on Social Security Disability. He is 40 y/o.
he has a mental disorder that he says keeps him from working full time since about 1998.
He did worked for almost 20 years but now he works part time.
Do you think since he works part time and makes about an extra $500 that he should work full time and get off S.S.
He seems alright to me.

Answers:
Some people with mental health problems can do limited work but not full time work. The fact he looks alright is irrelevant. You can't see what's going on in the inside. It's not a broken leg. Sometimes it's also an introduction back to work to ensure they are ready. Please dont be jealous or mad you do not know what his actuall circumstances are and as you said he previuosly worked for twenty years so does not seem work shy to me.
sounds to me like he is cheating the other people out who really need it.
Until you've walked a mile in his shoes, it's best not to judge. It may be tough for him to talk about, and it really isn't your business to pry into his health situation. Just pray to God that YOU don't ever have a mental illness that you can't get under control, because it is a living hell my love.
