I have a friend who was diagnosed, with Bi Polar II about 10 yrs ago. When he is manic, he gets suicidal also. He is so intelligent and is one of the most creative people I have ever met. My reason in telling you this is, to please seek out treatment for your disease. If you don't have the funds, than go to the closest hospital emergency room in your area. They have to treat you, tell them that your are suicidal and have had suicide attempts in the past. Getting a sedative from a doctor, is not the answer. There are so many different medications, that they use to treat your disease and its going to take a professional that specializes in Bi Polar, to decide which ones will work best for you. You are so worth, getting the help that you deserve. You don't have to fight this alone, Bi Polar is a very complex disease but it can be treated. And you can live a full, happy and productive life. You already took the first step, by asking for help. That takes a lot of courage, so keep moving forward. I hope this helps, you will be in my prayers :-)
Of course he can. You are better off checking your local listings for a free mental health clinic and getting something other than a seditive, though. A seditive is just a short-term solution, and many are addictive.
