Do you think i need to get counselling??

Question:
For a long time i get waves of depression that just come over me and i am always thinking about killing myself just to get away from all my problems .. i no this is not the answer but last nite i took 15 ibroprofen which i no was stupid as a feel a bit rough today but do you think counselling mite be the answer as i dont want to do anything stupid??

Answers:
You need to do whatever it takes to stop harming yourself. That much ibuprofen is probably hard on your liver or something.

Along with whatever else you choose to do to rectify your problem, I suggest eating the best health-food diet you can manage/afford and also embarking on the most vigorous exercise regimen you can keep up. I also recommend fish oil pills. Get a little sun, avoid sugar like it's the plague, keep an eye on your caffeine intake, drink lots of filtered water, and make the best of this short life. Try to look at some of your problems as challenges that you can be creative in solving. Research a little bit on sleep disorders. Something as inoccuous as snoring could be screwing you up.

Good luck. Email me if you want specifics about diet or something.
Its certainly a good start - personally I would also see a GP as counsellors can not prescribe medication you may need - if you allow a GP and a counsellor to work as a team with you, you are more likely to get things sorted out much quicker than trying to go it alone.
Stop thinking and talking about counselling Just do it.
Remember counsellors are like all things in life some are good some are bad, just keep shopping to you get the one that suits you
Do it now, you know you want to, you need to talk.
well it sounds like you have already done something stupid and it sounds like you already know you need to get counseling
A good idea. If not one available, talk to someone you respect and trust as soon as possible.

No shame in calling a help line either.

Problems do dimmish in intensity over time. Nothing is unsolvable. Take it one day at a time and try to get some rest. Looking at stuff with fresh eyes can help.

NO more pills, please.
You bet, that would be a step in the right direction. Going to your family doctor to get a good referral and a full physical at the same time would also help you. There could be medical reason why you tend to get waves of depression that could be treated, and get you out of that present state. If you feel overwhelmed, and can't wait, go to the E.R and seek medical evaluation, they too, can and will help you. Don't hesitate to seek medical attention, you've courageously come this far! You need your anxieties to be releived, having had endured them, far too long. Give yourself a break, and let professionals help you! You're not alone, and your problems do have resolve in them. You are capable of turning all this around in your favor for a change. The only difference is, a team will help you cope through the difficulties, and you get the easy part...all you got to do, is go in. I'm not saying resolving the problems is going to be easy, that's the hard part, you have to do. That's the work you put in, through working your way towards resolve, one step at a time. And that, is a big job, but, you can do it. But in order to do that job, right now, you need a bit of rest, to calm all that anxiety you feel right now, and a medical team knows very well what all that is about, and the best way to go about just helping you do that. So there you go, you asked a very important question, and I'm giving you, a very important answer...don't hesitate, just do it! Thanks for asking a very courageous question and am so hoping it helps. Wishing you strength and courage towards making a speedy recovery. Be good to yourself, and take care.
