Answers:
Don't be nervous. 3 years ago I went back to college. I had always been a C-D student so I was very nervous about trying to get my Associates Degree.(I was 35 then) I was put on Adderall and it was like a whole new door opened for me. I made the Dean's List several times and the Presidents list several times. I graduated with a 4.0GPA. It DOES WORK. Now, side effects. I had bad headaches for a while. But I knew in the end the results would be worth it. If you can work through the side effects, the rest will fall into place. As far as the sex drive thing..never had a problem....
it depends on how difficult it is to concentrate. It's a little scary that if all you said was you have difficulty concentrating and the doctor prescribed adderall.
I know one side effect of adderall is that it suppresses the appetite. It's still relatively new so they don't know all of the long term side effects so my advice would be if you don't need to take it don't.
However, I have never heard anything of it being addictive or effecting your sex drive.
Ok..Deep Breath :)
You need to calm down. Adderall does have some side effects, but they are generally mild and usually have to due with weight loss due to loss of appetite and sometimes headaches. But nothing severe and I've never heard of any sexual dysfunction. Addiction is not an issue as long as you do not abuse the medication and use it as prescribed.
As far as you needing to take the medication, it's up to you. I would consider though if you really need it. Adderall is given to people with a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD, have you been diagnosed? If not I would consider other reasons for poor concentration, mostly related to being preoccupied with other stressors in your life. If your stress levels decrease you may not need to be on any medication at all.
I would like to see you get a firm diagnosis, that's the most important thing.
