How do you make yourself happy when you're depressed?

I try and think of everything thats positive and forget about the negative for a minute. Sometimes I even go as far as to get a pen and a piece of paper and write down a list of things only positive. They can even be small things like..." I had a good meal to eat today while there are kids starving in some parts of the world." If thats impossible for you then instead of waisting time dwelling on the negative, think of a solution to your problems...remember every problem has a solution. Whether it be hard or seemingly impossible, there's always a solution. For instance if you happen to be depressed about a relationship, change it. Either find a way to improve tje situation or get out of it. Or, if you're depressed about financial troubles, fix them. Yes, its easier said than done, but truly not impossible. Even if you have to conjure up a step by step plan that may take longer than you really want it to, you should still do it and stick to it. This way you at least have a hope for the future. Remember, depression usually comes from feelings of hopelessness, so find a way to see the hope!
I go for a long walk then go for a coffee
I play the guitar or listen to music, that's the only thing that helps me. It also depends on the reason I'm depressed. If it's because I failed a test, then I'd watch a movie, hang-out with friends, and eat some really really good food. If it was a girl, then the former.
i think of my mom who just passed away last month and think of how lucky i was to have her as a mom and also it think of being with her again one day in heaven
do everything opposite watch comedy go enjoy life whatever make you happy do it so you won't be depress.

Nice hot (or cold- dependant on the weather) shower and get out of the house, just go have a hot chocolate at a cafe and read thier magazines. The walking helps, getting your heart rate up for fifteen minutes (to the bus stop) helps heaps,

I like to go shopping, I keep away from negative people, I always try to see that things could always be worse and to be thank full for what I have.

Im feelin like that myself, I worked all day, so I was busy with the kids! (I work in daycare) then I came home, rather than sitting home and start thinking about negative things I went to the gym and talking to God . always helps!

Ogenki desu ka? anyways..well theres plenty of ways.. i mean if your really depressed go up to random people and say random things.it will make u happy lol. do fun things, talk to alot of people,say nice things about yourself,know that your awesome,it seems impossible, but if you ignore what others think and love yourself. then it will be worth it. i promise:)<333

i used to take walks down the street and listen to music but i cant do much of those anymore
think of the funniest stuff ever that happend in your life.like this one time for me i was walking down the street and this lady looked like my niece and i was like hey carly(that's here name)and i give her a big hug and she turns around and it wasn't her it was a little man.!!!!!!but he really looked like my niece...
In life, there are lot of up and down. you cant always have up but not down. Think of the the reason why you are depressed. there must be a cause to your depression.
In general we are human, we are emotional and every seconds our mode changes plus we have feeling, unless you can control your emotion and feeling every second when the external enviroment changes, I am sure you can overcome depression..
Maybe a 15min-30min of deep meditation can helps. Like what I am doing.it sure helps.
Some hints:
If your heart is bouncing around and still think of the incident during meditation, try to visualise your heart is lock in a box, this will keep you deep into meditation.
Control the heart and not let the heart controlling you when environment changes during meditation.

We all want life to exactly our way, but it never works out perfectly. We want something but don't get it and it feels as if our lives are ruined. We want people to love us exactly the way we want them too love us, but it hardly ever works out that way. We want perfect peace and joy, but someone is always oppressing us or insulting us or doing so to our friends. We want freedom from pain and old age, but suffering and death comes. So what to do? How can we bear the sadness and misery that fills our lives, how can we escape torment and death?
My advice is to turn to God and embrace his truth no matter how painful. He can do much more than cheer a person up, he change their life for the better, and one day will make it perfect forever, perfectly satisfying you. Try his way if you already haven't already. A good jog always does the trick for me.....
But if you don't like jogging, keep as busy as possible. So your mind doesn't fixate on the fact your depressed.

I just have to look at my son and think, what have I got to be depressed about. My child is alive and healthy and a good child, I have nothing to hang my head over.
try not to be hard on myself then tell myself life is supposed to be lived. If i hav friends and someone to love everything turns out fine. If im stressed i like to get massages for my tensed up body, exercise "break a sweat", and talk to someone that will listen well. Sometimes i like to retreat and spend the day alone with paint or something thats artistic.
Do anything that makes you happy. Ask a friend to come as well so you won't be alone.
I go outside in my husbands garden. Or I sing spiritual songs. Or I chat with my sister or mom.
Or read a good non fiction book that helps the betterment of life and reminds me to think positive. Or I stay up late at night on the computer ;-)
I try not to think about the problem because it will make me physically sick. I go outside with nature and talk to the Creator and I expect a miracle.
