Mean gossip about me at work -- how to deal and not quit??

Question:
I heard recently (through gossip) that supervisor of my boss does NOT like me. Also, that other people have said deragatory things about me -- insinuating that something is "going on" between my boss and I (NOT true and disgusting). But this is all gossip.. so there's nothing I can do about it. I know I need to look for another job -- this is so nasty and unprofessional ... but how do I deal with going back there everyday until I can get out? I am trying so hard NOT to quit before having another job but it's so hard. Any advice? thanks.

Answers:
Just get your work done, and make sure your not getting ripped off.
Everybody has this to some degree or another sometimes.

I knew one old hag that said I was dating the boss, and wanted to know what the boss thought of my daughter.

Well.....didn't date the boss, nor do I have a daughter.

Crazy.

I never commented one way or the other, but my friends and I had a good laugh. That is all you can do.

Some reason they may be jealous of you.
Kepp your head up and strive. As I was told growing up, if people are talking about you and are being derogatory starting rumors they have nothing better to talk about and are jealous of your performance.laugh in their face and keep pressing on until you find your next job.
just hold your head up and walk on dont let it bother you just give it to God
I have found that bringing things out into the open will clear the air...Don't try to avoid the subject,,,find out who is saying it and go to that person. Face them up with where they got that infomation..Sometimes it all starts with one person who is jealous of you. Get to the bottom of it...Why should you leave a job you like, when you have done nothing wrong. Find out who started it...Be a detective...
sorry to hear that.
:(
Watch the movie 9 to 5 with Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin in it. It has stuff in it like you're going through.
It will make you laugh.

:)
Just walk into work and ask the boss's supervisor if the rumors are true that he doesn't like you. Put him on the spot and everyone else there who obviously aren't doing their jobs because their to busy gossiping. Stand up for yourself. Why should you put up with that? Don't give them that power in your life because if you just quit or get another job it's going to do nothing but confirm the gossip. Not that it really matters because these people don't matter if there going to be like this but again stand up for yourself and DON"T RUN AWAY!! Remember what comes around goes around.
I know, I deal with a lot of crap at my job too. The best thing to do is get your job done, and keep your mouth shut is what I've learned. It's in every job I've had. I get the same type of treatment. Someone is always jealous, someone is talking behind my back or spreading rumors. Someone is always better than me. It never ends. It in every job.
sounds Like you're working with a bunch of immature children, not adults. Anyway...those who talk about others behind their backs like that are jelous about your performance in the work place. don't let it bother you. I myself am the confortational type. If people are talking about me I ask them what their problem is. I personally don't care what others think about me and nither should you. If none of what they are saying is true then don't worry about it because you KNOW it's not true. Plus what ever they are saying will eventually comback to them and bite them in the butt, and will eventually be heard by your manager. Don't quit just because of them, because that's what they want. Tell your boss what is going on and that you plan on finding a better job because of it. After you find a new and better job, go back to get your final paycheck with a big happy smile and brag about how great your new job is.Don't let them get to you.
