Is zoloft for building confidence?

Question:
i have a lack of confidence in dealing socially with people. as a result, i've been picking jobs that do not require much interaction with people, such as fast food, factory job. i found these jobs to pay pisspoor, so i'm re-evaluating. i'm thinking of asking my doctor for zoloft. will that help me improve confidence?

Answers:
Nothing can help you build your confidence more than you can. Zoloft is an anti-depressant. It sounds like you should talk to your doctor about social anxiety disorder. He can prescribe you something for that.
zoloft is for depression, not sure there is a pill that will help with self confidence, that seems like something you have to build on your own. I guess unless your depressed due to lack of confidence, talk to your doctor they will know what is best for you
That is not what Zoloft is prescribed for. See a pro for sure.Best of Luck you sound just alittle unsure of yourself.
yeah...what that other person said.you may have social anxiety disorder.you may also benefit from talking with someone.you need to get out and talk to ppl and build your self esteem before you can build confidence. get involved in something you enjoy..whatever that may be. you can meet ppl with the same interests you have and perhaps have some fun. paxil is a good drug for social anxiety disorder but takes 4-6 weeks to kick in. if you are that bad off you may need some therapy.never a bad thing.if you lived in NY you'd be considered abnomal if you didn't have one :-) good luck
If you talk to a doctor, they will be able to help you get over the hump. My brother had the same problem. He had a hard time even going to school because of social anxiety. The dr. gave him Paxil. It is an antidepressent, but is also used to help treat social anxiety among other things. He had to take it for several years, but is now at the point where he is starting to down his dose to get off of it.

Good luck. Anxiety is not fun, whether social or other.
medications can help a little, but to build confidence it requires much more than a pill

To Increase Confidence:

1. Make a list of your strong points.

All the positive things about yourself and the things that you are good at doing. Think of compliments you have received or things that come easily to you. It doesn't matter what it is, if it's good, write it down.

2. Choose two of those things that you want to work on to improve even more.

It's important to succeed and by concentrating on the areas you are already good at you will have a better chance of becoming even more sure of yourself. Remember that success builds upon success.

3. Exude confidence even if you don't feel like it.

Talk to yourself in an encouraging way and stay away from negative thoughts and people as you can.

Instead surround yourself with positive, confident, and successful people. This will become a habit and one that will build confidence.

4. Look at yourself in a different way than you are used to doing.

It can change your life and help your confidence level to rise. See yourself as the self confident person you want to be and before you know it you will become that person.

If you have a set-back do not let it get the best of you. Remember the times when you exhibited self confidence and how good it felt and then try again and each time will help you to build confidence and confidence building will become a way of life.
don't take zolof or another pilss, if you feel lack of confidence and want to build it, try with natural way
