Have you been to the doctors with an anxiety.??

Question:
i'v finally made the apointment, what will she ask and what tests will she do. plz help and answer!

Answers:
I started having anxiety and panic attacks when I was 15 and I am 34 now. I have been treated off and on with anxiety medications. The medications do help but I will have to admit that alternative remedies are better (such as exercise, yoga, reading, running, finding something that calms you down naturally). If you can make yourself do it every single day (whatever it is that you enjoy rather it’s painting, writing, whatever). Medication is something that might be needed and if anxiety runs in your family then it will be considered genetic and the doctors will say you will need the medicine forever and they treat it like a disease (like a heart disease etc). I have tried to go off of mine many times and always have to go back on it. So, my biggest recommendation is be very frank with your doctor about your symptoms and if you wants to try medication then try it but also find another outlet to help your anxiety. Good luck.
i haven't yet but i will be checking for answers to your question as i have severe anxiety, but i'm too anxious to see the doctor (how ironic lol). thanks for asking the question that i have been avoiding! xx
What type of anxiety, when, how often, how long it has been going on,what other meds you have tried,if depression is present. What else is going on in your life that may contribute to this. several drugs for anxiety that are of great relief. usually needed for a short span of time and weaned off. Doc can help with this.I have needed anxiety drugs for most of my life.Due to many factors.Their is a 1-10 scale 10 being the least I believe. There are several ways a Dr. determines what you should be taking. Yoga and meditation are sometimes at first if the anxiety isnt too far escalated. PEACE
Abbie... i don't know. but don't worry she is there to help you. I don't think there are any "tests" she will more than likely ask you what the problems are, and maybe give you some meds...Don't get yourself worked up over this... take deep calming breaths and know that for every irrational thought we have we always have a rational one... go for it! Let me know how it all turns out, OK> : )
