How does it affect me to sleep with the lights turned on every day?

Question:
I can't sleep with the lights off sometimes because I am Schizoaffective Bipolar type I and I am afraid to see a hallucination again and sleeping with the lights on reduces that fear.

But I heard my aunt say that people who sleep every day with lights turned on don't get good sound sleep? Is that true?

Answers:
do what works for you!!! not your aunt ...talk with your doc about at your next appointment
Well, I think I heard somewhere that it does affect the quality of your sleep. Plus, your body won't produce enough melanin (or something), so you're most susceptible to certain types of cancer, I think.

But I sleep with the lights on a lot, anyway, because the bright light helps me wake up in the morning for school/work. So, just do whatever works for you. Everything in life comes with some risks.
i think with lights turned on you might not be scared much. it helps you to relax.
Not a problem. Whatever works for you is fine.
Hypnotherapy is a wonderful way to relax, combat stress and to get good quality sleep.
You can be taught self hypnosis by going to see a Hypnotherapist or get a self help CD (or download)
