Can stress make you not as hungry? & Should I go to partial hospitalization?

Question:
I have been EXTREMELY stressed the past few weeks, and I havent been eating as much as I use to, i just get full faster. When I go to eat I will be REALLY hungry and then I will only eat like half of what I made. Yesterday I had cereal, apiece of cat fish and a grilled cheese and half a corn dog. thats not like me, I usually eat alot more. I get full ALOT quicker too. I can be full off of a sandwich... I have been thinking more and more about going into partial hospitalization because I cant take the stress anymore. I have had a history of cutting myself and taking pills hoping to die. I have been having those feelings ALOT more lately. I cant go one day without crying, I will be talking about something and all of the sudden I will feel like crying. everything is so messed up... I dont know what to do anymore..

Judging by your last question it looks like you are WAAAY too stressed. I think you should concentrate on YOU .. and noone else. Stop worrying so much. I know you might think "its easy for you to say" .. but minus the people staying with me, i'm going through the same thing, at age 20. My fiance and i just found out we're going to have a baby, we're in the middle of getting a loan to buy a house .. we're going through a lot right now. I used to cut myself in high school .. i had so much on my plate at a young age.

So you need to concentrate on yourself before you worry so much about others. Take some YOU time. I recommend writing in a journal, or blog it on myspace and have it so only you can view that blog. Just to get your feeling down on paper/computer .. makes me feel a lot better.

YES, stress can cause these things. TRUUUUST ME! I haven't been eating much at all, although with being preggers i should. But even before i was preggers i would have this problem (minus the cutting) .. at your age you need to get over that or yes, get help if it gets bad.
Stress can cause you lose your appitite, trust me.

So again, relax .. take some YOU time. =)

Good luck ♥
Stress and anxiety can decrease your appetite.

What you are feeling is also what you are thinking.

Like any athlete who must train his body, you must also train your mind.

One way to do that is to see a therapist who can help you regain control of your feelings.

You can start by making sure that when your are starting to feel stress that you are breathing properly.

Take 3 deep breaths.

Do a progressive muscle exercise. You can this anywhere. You start by scrunching your toes, then letting them relax, then your feet, then let them relax, do that with each set of muscles all the way to the top of your head.

You can also do another exercise called guided imagery. You are your own guide, you imagine you are going somewhere very peaceful. It might be the beach or a walk in the forest. Really see the green or water and feel the wind on your arms and the sun. Just generally enjoy the journey.

First, yes, stress can cause a loss of appetite. as long as you're eating - don't worry about that too much - unless you start losing lots of weight.

As for the other stuff, you're depressed - it happens to a lot of people, but definitely see a doctor if you have a history of cutting and takign pills - ASAP! I'm not sure it's necessary to check into a hospital, but make an appointment to see a psychiatrist tomorrow. Or your general doctor if that's easier.

good luck - you can get through it!
Only you truly know if you need hospitolized. But I do know that when you are stresse your feel sick all the time and that's why your not as hungry. So when you don't eat as much your stomache shrinks. o I am not kidding it's true. So once things in your life settle your appetite will go back to nirmal.
Just remember to drink lots of water.
