How do you go to sleep?

Question:
How do you go to sleep when you got thoughts glued into your mind that won't go away?
I have been thinking so much lately, I haven't been getting more then three hours during the night and being dazed the next day. I wake up and go to sleep, then do that through out the night. I have music playing all night that should put me to sleep, and I don't want to, nor should use drugs.

Answers:
you should just lay there and close your eyes and let you mind go on until you doze off
i have the same problem and that works

I put something on the TV. I usually pick something non-threatening. For example, The Golden Girls. Their plots are always predictable(not too much thinking involved), never violent (no bad dreams), and the colors are warm on their set (so the light in my room is warm, too).

I think it stems from being the youngest and always going to bed when everyone else was still up watching TV. I guess it makes me comfortable subconsciously thinking of my childhood.

Maybe you should think of what reminds you of a comfortable time...maybe a time when you didn't have insomnia? Find something that takes you back to that time. Maybe you grew up in Florida, so get an orange-scented air freshener. Perhaps you love cherry vanilla ice cream...have a small bowl before bed time.

Or just put the History Channel on the television! Hope you get some good sleep soon!
I actually don't. (Diagnosed as an insomniac at 15.) I usually only get a couple of hours each night and also find drugs to be unhelpful or too strong for me. I try to set myself a specific time to go to bed. Then I almost meditate as I lay in bed. Sometimes I will allow myself to imagine something... About 75% of the time it works to help me calm my mind and then sleep some.

If this becomes a long term issue (more than 90 days), you should see your doctor about alternatives that do not include drugs.
count from 1 and so on
try to imagine anything to try and clear your mind
if you have insomia its much harder
If you are reaching your target heart rate and holding it there for ten minutes while you are doing cardiovascular activity, you will sleep great every night.
I promise you.
