Sleeping pills and sleep eating.?

Question:
Hi, I have had this problem for several years now. I wake up some times 2-4 times a night and eat. My doctor has had me on all kinds of sleeping pills, he even had me on Rozeram and Lunesta at the same time! I still did it! Who ever heard of taking 2 different sleeping pills at the same time and not sleeping? I did a sleep study when it first began and the said that I came out of REM 27 times. They said that it had to do with depression. I have been on several different anti depressents and non have seem to help. The funny thing is that my mental state is pretty good. I am unhappy because I get up at night and eat, so no matter how much I watch my diet during the day, it is all ruined at night! Has anyone else had this problem of being on two sleeping pills and them not helping? I am tempted to just stop taking them completely!

Answers:
I would lock up the fridge at night. If you live with someone, make sure they get the key. Then stop taking all the medication, since its not helping... Try to get more exercise in the day too, so you sleep harder.
Actually, I used to have a problem staying asleep at night. My doctor had me on Elavil, Restoril and Flexeril. I use to wake up too once my body got use to them. I stopped taking all of them last September and now only take Advil PM. Seems to work just fine. I did gain about 35 pounds when I started taking all those pills. I've lost 15 pounds since I stopped taking them. I'm not "starving to death" nearly as often as I was before! And, I use to get up in the middle of the night and eat a bowl of cereal - that's stopped too.

Good luck.
Both Rozeram & Lunesta are a form of sleeping aid and they are very mild when compared to an actual sleeping pill.
I can relate to your statement about depression when in truth, you do feel pretty good. I quit taking anti-depressents and started taking an anxiety med called 'Buspar' which helped with my sleeping, eating, thinking, and relating with other people in general.
I hope looking in another/different direction will help you, too!
i would definitely get a second opinion. i don't know any doctor that would put you on two different sleeping pills at the same time. and whatever he's giving you it's not working. when you find another doctor, take all of your meds with you, and tell him what's been happening and see what he's comes up with. good luck!
LOL yes my Dr tells me that when i take the sleeping meds that i technical Over Dose on them, at one stage i would be taking 10 tablets every night to try and sleep I still have the records for not going under in hospital. when i was in the mental hospital they said that i was on the strongest sleeping tablets out and they where given to me at 7pm and i would still be up at midnight, ohh at the time i was only 14 <now much older> i was on the "date rape drug" Rohypnol for a long time and i would take up to nine tablets pre night and still be up after that.
I can get a needle for pain that should put anyone to sleep yet it has never done that to me (With the exception of Morphine that does put me to sleep OK)
was there anything that they sleeping study come back with as to what was going on other then you came out of REM 27 times?
do you remember when you go for a sleep walk?
I'm curious about two things. A. what is on your mind, or rather, what emotional state are you in most of the time? ...and B. does anyone else in your family have a history of this disorder? I sure hope you get some feedback from someone with the same stuff going on. Take care.
