What is the difference between bipolar depression + bipolar disorder?

Question:
Please...

Answers:
There is no difference. "Bipolar depression" is simply the depressive phase of bipolar disorder. "Unipolar depression" is major depressive disorder that does not include the manic, hypomanic or mixed episodes that occur in bipolar disorder.
Bipolar disorder includes bipolar depression. Bipolar means you can be very happy or very depressed.
Bipolar is referring to the extremes of moods on a spectrum.
From mania to depression.
One textbook definition describes bipolar disorder as a major affective disorder in which an individual alternates between states of deep depression and extreme elation. This is misleading in that bipolar disorder - also known as manic depression or manic-depressive illness - is much more complicated than just alternating between depression and elation.

the negative and positive charges are at opposite polarities with the two disorders. right there with santa and the polar bears and elves making wonderful presents for us all awaiting christmas morning! yay christmas!!
bipolar depression is a person that is diagnosed as being bipolar and having symptoms of depression while, bipolar disorder is when a person is dianosed as just being bipolar.
I think they mean the same thing,
Another type of depression is bipolar disorder, also called manic-depressive illness. Not nearly as prevalent as other forms of depressive disorders, bipolar disorder is characterized by cycling mood changes: severe highs (mania) and lows (depression). Sometimes the mood switches are dramatic and rapid, but most often they are gradual. When in the depressed cycle, an individual can have any or all of the symptoms of a depressive disorder. When in the manic cycle, the individual may be overactive, overtalkative, and have a great deal of energy. Mania often affects thinking, judgment, and social behavior in ways that cause serious problems and embarrassment. For example, the individual in a manic phase may feel elated, full of grand schemes that might range from unwise business decisions to romantic sprees. Mania, left untreated, may worsen to a psychotic state.

There is really no difference in bipolar depression and bipolar disorder. Bipolar depression is a symptom of bipolar disorder.
nothn they are the same just a different way to say it...bipolar disorder used to be called manic depression...bipolar means going from very manic to very down...a quick explanation i know.
so just use the word bipolar with whatever either disorder or depression but depression is just one of the negative sides of it so i use disorder....
I'd agree with the first answer. With Bipolar Disorder, you get huge swings of mood between the depressions and the 'highs'. It can be controlled with medication - but you have to continue to take the medication even when you feel that you don't need it (our minds can play dirty little tricks on us!). I wish you well.
bipolar disorder refers to the diagnosis. sometimes up in a manic state but more often in the depressed state -- thus the term "bi" as used with bipolar. now, bipolar depression, well, is just what i already told you. it is one of the two states of bipolar disorder. if you are in the depressive state, then you are in bipolar depression. kinda of get carried away with their jargon in mental health work i think.
I think the generalization of Bipolar disorder is a disorder that was known as Manic Depression. Bipolar disorder is classified many different ways. Bipolar I and II are different depending on severity of episodes: manic/hypomanic/mixed/and major depressive episodes. I think a simple definition of bipolar II, would be mood swings, excessive energy/anxiety, etc. but not as "severe" as I (although, I don't want to say that, but it's not a that easy of an question to answer).
different labels that affect self esteem people can act like their labels suggest sometimes
Bipolar means from one extreme to another,You can be very high or very depressed with this disorder, To answer your question they are the same thing, I'm a sufferer...KEN
i think there are both part of the same dissorder. bipolar is a sertious and dibilitating thing. both my husband and a close friend have this but at varing degrees. the mania part which often acumpanys manic depression which is another name for this can be very outward and scary. but funny enough when the person is going through a mania stage they often feel good but its thoe around them that see they are not. alot more reserch needs to go into this i think and the wrong treatments and dosages have been used for many years.
is this a trick question? aren't they like the same.
