HI John, I think for some stuff people find comfort in talking to strangers. The may offer an unbiased opinion...but like u said how much do they really know about u in a short paragraph. maybe professional help is to expensive, maybe people are just bored, or maybe would like to hear many different opinions. i really don't know. :)
have a good day
sometimes its better to ask a complete stranger for advice before you do your family or close freinds. Because they know you and how you take things wrong or right in your life where as a total stranger dosnt know anthing about you and will hold nothing back and be truthfull even when it hurts. As with family and freinds its no id better not say that or not get involved. Where as you can ask a stranger for advice and they will give it to the best of there ability.Sometimes the advice i get from YouQA.com I couldnt have asked for a better therapist......
You seem really smart. Listen my boy friend and I just broke up and now my 5 year old keeps asking where daddy went...what should i say?
lol...naw just kidding. But yeah I definitely think things are getting a little too deep in the Singles and Dating, etc. category.
I think that forums such as YouQA.com s are a good way for people to get opinions outside of their close group of friends and family. Most of the time you know what those close to you think, if you are still asking it's because you don't like what you hear from those who know you. And many times people just want reassurance that what they already know is shared by others. It also helps to hear from people who have been through similar situations and how they resolved or dealt with their problems. Sometimes you just need an unbiased, objective opinion and there is nothing wrong with that, though it should not substitute for therapy or visiting the Dr for a diagnosis.
For all those relationship questions, it helps to just pour out your heart to strangers. It can be cathartic to spill your guts to someone who doesn't know you and you will never have to face.
Here's what I think. I think we all come on to this YouQA.com deal because we can first off be who we want to be because no one knows us..We are not afraid to ask some of the most outrageous or personal questions, and get advice from a stranger. It's always nice to spread out the auora around you to people in different communities with different opinions and experiences that help you open up your mind more to finidng your question. Asking somone we know about a personal question about marrige or something is fine, but then you fear their reaction because they already have judgments on you and your significant other. It's always good to hear more opinions and be more open minded when it comes to them. Coming on here is a way for people to connect to others in this community we have developed on here. And not really place a pressure on ourselves and self esteem!
I wouldn't consider answering questions here actually a therapy but more like a sharing. If you really have emotional problem, best is to consult the expert!
YouQA.com has its place. I think of it as a form of entertainment. To be on the answering side of questions that are presented makes one feel somewhat helpful. One can share their life experience and hopefully help another person in some small way.
i agree. some of the issues can be potentially damaging, when it comes to mental/physical health, things like pregnancy, or similar things. i wonder, too, how often do the questioner's take the answerers advice? it scares me some of the ques that are posted and left to public opinion. even ore some of the answers that i read in response. many people argue that the internet in itself and things like Facebook and Myspace and other social networking sites may be replacing physical interaction altogether. great observation. and i am with you on it. yet here WE are..
