Some questions about ritalin (concerta)?

Question:
I've been diagnosed with ADHD/predominantly inattentive. So i've been on concerta for a couple weeks now. The first couple days i felt that it worked, but only for a short while - a few hours. Now it seems to not have a real effect at all. There hasn't been any real side effects, but a while ago I had tried adderall and it seemed to be a lot more effective. i thought concerta would be like adderall, perhaps milder, but it really just isn't working. I'm on 36 mg a day. I'm thinking of calling my doctor and asking him to up my dosage or perhaps switch me to something else.

I'm new to all of this... is the trial and error thing normal?

Answers:
I'm on 54mgs of concerta maybe your doc is starting low I can definitely feel mine. And don't be afraid to tell your doc that you want to try something else if that's what you want
ive been on so many meds its not funny, its all about trial and error, and yes it is normal. let the medicine get a chance to work some take time to get in your system to work properly. id say give it a month and if that does not work switch meds.
These types of meds take several tried before the dosage is correct and works for you. Call your doctor and express your concerns. He will probably tell you to wait a little longer to see if it "kicks in" but he might want to change the dosage also.
