I had a choking incident once and...?

Question:
ever since then, I have had panic attacks. I cannot get rid of them. I have learned how to get through them myself. I know it's all in my head. Sometimes, I get stressed about something, and I get panicked and I could start yelling and freaking out over it... Can I ever get over them without meds?

Answers:
Awareness is half the solution to resolution. If you KNOW it's all in your head, then seek counseling to have behavior modification. A counselor can teach you techniques that curb your desire to "freak out" and yell. In a few short months you will be able to cope with anxiety. And with consistency, you'll be back to normal functioning.

In the meantime, chew well... ;-)
oh my goodness,.......
hun u should consult your doctor or psychiatrist. its your best bet
I suffer with pannic and anxiety disorder, i am on med i have tryed comming off these several times and it doesnt work for me the meds keep my body at a slow rate and help's avoid the pannic attacks from occuring. because without med i would not be ableto live a normal daily life ,like going out to the shops ect. so i have learnt to accept that to live a normal life i must stay on my medication. there is also behaviour therpy wich can help to change your thought process and i have herd it is very good and works. there re many differnet ways to cope with pannic and axiety but for me i wasnt that lucky, mine control my life and i need my med to control my own life with out pannic. hope that helps but check out about behaviour therpy and also about talking to your doctor about ways you can deal with this without medication if thats what you want, but dont be ashamed many people suffer this in silence and dont tell anyone.
I have had panic attacks during my adulthood. I was hospitalized in the 80's and 90's for depression. I used to take medication but I lost my job because of it and I soon realized that my family was also suffering. I soon realized that it was up to me to do something. They always say that you should never stop taking medicines unless doctors say so but a lot of doctors seem to be more comfortable with giving you more than less so I took it upon myself to quit taking my meds cold turkey. I kept my therapy sessions but she, my husband, and my kids were the only ones to know about the meds. If I hadn't had their support; I wouldn't be the person that I am today.
