Depression. Does participating in this Q and A make you feel better or worse?

Question:
I'm asking this cause i've only been a member since 30th July. I've answered over a hundred answers and asked nearly 20. I'm on level 2 and doin ok if you look at the top 10 answerers in this section! Problem is i empathise too much and seem to take on all your problems too, that's part of my illness! So should i continue on this or not? It's wierd it makes me feel kinda good, but more depressed i'm a bit confused!

Answers:
If you want to help people you have to take the attitude that you can not be both a patient and a therapist.

Deal with your problems first. Then you can come and tell anyone who is having that problem how you were able to solve it.

You can also think of it as a game. I am not convinced that all the questions are real.

Some of them are from people role playing to see what kind of answers they get.

Some are students doing their homework.

And, some just think they are funny.

But I am just glad if I have helped even 1 person in 100.

Besides other people may just read and find something meaningful for them.

Hm... have you looked into the counseling profession? That may solve your depression...

Oh, and participating in YouQA.com s has 0 net effect on my life. Why? Because I have a life.
well i honestly dont belive in depression i think it is just chronic board and lazyness (not saying your lazy) but do what you want just think of the people you helped or that helped you
Honestly YA makes me feel a lot worse most of the time. It reminds me of how depressing society is.

But oddly enough, I still come on..
makes me feel worse
You just need to remember that although you can have empathy for the people on this, you don't know them and what happens in their lives will not have any effect on yours. I understand that that could be a little difficult for you, but you are doing all that you can just by answering the questions and trying to help the best that you can. I don't think that this is something that should consume your thoughts, because for the most part you don't even know any ones real name-how much time beyond answering a question should you devote to them? You need to separate yourself from this or maybe take a break...you definitely have good participation...but maybe you should find other things to do with your time-or if you must stay on answers go to the jokes & riddles section maybe that will help you feel better.
i know what you mean sometimes it can have a negative effect on you. Just try not to take it to seriously and don't leave us we will miss you too much.
I put my heart into each answer. I share my life experiences with other people in the hope that it might help someone. It is rewarding to have my answer picked as "The Best Answer". It lets me know somehow I may have helped someone in some shall way. Keep It Going
I have just recently gotten addicted to YouQA.com . I like helping people who are similar to me and I like learning about other things. And if I need help with something, it's really neat to see who's been in MY shoes as well. I can see where you can get more depressed by taking IN others problems. I think you should quit for a while and see if it helps. If it doesn't help you, then you know it's not the web site, but if you start to feel better, then maybe you should find a new hobby. It's ok if that's the case though, you have to do things that make YOU feel good.
I can understand why it may "bring you down" some. People with illnesses have to be careful. I myself feel better after answering questions. Feel better.
