Can I overcome Panic Disorder without medication?

Question:
I have recently been diagnosed with Panic Disorder, and the psychiatrist put me on a low dose of lexapro, while saying people get over this without medication, but it sounded like I wanted it (I don't think I ever said that). I don't want to have to rely on medication for the rest of my life, and I'm getting the sexual side effects, which is really sucking. I was wondering if anyone has overcome this without medication, just therapy, and how hard it was. Or if anyone has done it with medication, or both. Advice from people with experience is preferred, or professionals.
Thanks

A proven way to beat panic disorder and anxiety is through neurofeedback therapy also known as EEG biofeedback. Do the research using keywords "neurofeedback and panic disorder or anxiety". It is safe with no side effects and really works. The only negative is that it takes 10- 15 sessions but after that you should see some major results. To read more click on my webpage below.
Have you tried to learn meditation? It helped me a lot. I went through both paths, with and without medication. I'm doing ok without the medication but that's in part to learning meditation. email me at littlebritches82@yahoo.com if you need anything and i mean ANYTHING
there are exercises you can do in breathing and relaxation, however I found that taking medication with them helps me for a small amountof time without the meds. After years on and off all different meds I have come to realize I must take them or panic. Try switching to zoloft, I have zero side effects sexually and it works better than anything I have ever tried. The only side effect I get is diarehea as I increase dosage for about 3 days. Goodluck I know how this sucks. There is an axiety and phobia workbook I used before that helped a little.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a wonderful way to help. You can learn it from a free download at www.emofree.com but it is better to find a person in your area to guide you through it. (many are listed on the site)

How long it takes will depend on the underlying reasons for its existence and why it was triggered.
I'm not sure that I have panic disorder but i used to get panic attacks.
if thats not the same then disregard.

personally i find ritual planning and a sense of order and organization is enough to keep me (fairly)worry free within my own little world.

knowing how to react in certain stressful situations before they occur is also good for when you go out.

For example if you drive:

Something as simple as knowing which way you're going before you get behind the wheel of a car and knowing the city really helps. always having a cell phone handy is another. knowing how to read a map is essential for drivers as well. even for cars with navigation units

keep certain emergency items in your trunk is important and join AAA/CAA.

Being self reliant and strong in yourself takes the guessing out of a lot of situations. But you cant avoid them all.

Keep a quick fix medication on hand if you have one, because a great way of avoiding stress is to know you wont be caught off guard in the first place.
