How to tell...?
Question:
Should I show her the cut marks on my arm 'cause they will just be uncovered sooner or later. Do you think it would be too much of a shock? I have been wearing long sleeves since wednesday when I cut and it is looking kinda weird now.
How should I bring it up and what should I say to the doctor when I eventually get there?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Also, please know that on wednesday I was in a really bad state, I took seven tylenols, four caffeine pills, drank some alcohol and cut myself. It was then I decided I needed help for real and I haven't done anything like that day since, but I need to do something or I know it will happen again eventually.
Answers:
You're not coping, so as you said you need help.
You don't have to tell your mum, but she should be able to help you through the bad times. It depends how you think she'll react. Depending on where the cut marks are, you might be able to hide them. Just become and expert at using your other arm and keeping the cut side down. I'm not condoning not telling your mum though.
Be completely honest with the doctor. You can go by yourself, or a friend or sibling if you don't tell your mum. The doctor will probably ask you loads of frustrating and long questions. If s/he says there's nothing wrong with you, go to a different doctor because they're wrong, you obviously need help.
Did you go to the hospital about the Tylenol? Sometimes pills can take up to two weeks to do any visible damage, so if you haven't you should.
Let me know if I can help.
Yes you should show your mom your cut marks. You need to get some help. Don't take a bunch of tylenol, you're going to give yourself permanent liver damage. Tell the doctor everything you're feeling and everything you have done. Go get help.
you may want to start out with a letter to soften the blow to your mother and after she reads it, show her the marks, the doctor will understand, you can just be straight forward and honest with them, it is a good thing that you are doing for yourself, by taking this step toward getting help, it is a long, hard journey, but keep going and you will make it
u havent told us how old u r
but do u tell ur mother when u sick, like when havin flu or something, or do u just go by ur self to the doctor.
if u old enough to go by ur self, then do it and tell ur doctor everything, the more u r open to ur doctor the more he or she can help,
and for ur mom im sure u'll know when the right time to tell her.
good luck and please dont do that again. its just stupid
