Does the weather affect your mood?

Question:
I find that I am much more irritable when it is hot (90 degrees plus) outside. I'm not really sure how to cope with it since where I live, that accounts for about 4 months out of the year. While I love the other 8 months, I feel like I'm going to go out of my mind during the summer. For one, because it is too hot to spend much time outside and I go stir crazy. It's also difficult trying to entertain your kids. We don't have a pool but I believe it would help. Can you relate? How do you cope?

Answers:
Ya I get the same. I get angry during he summer due to the heat. And I am not happy when I am freezing cold. And people get happy in the spring cause of all the life around them springing out of the ground.
When it is dark and stormy, so am I.
I get the opposite. I like the spring and summer and even the fall, for me going swimming and everything is great. Hate the winter with an absolute passion because I really am an outside person and when the snow and ice comes around, I don't like to drive in it if I can avoid it.

There is a condition known as Seasonal Affective Disorder but I think it is more closely related to what I experience as compared to what you experience. However, what you can do is try to make the best of your summer. If you don't have a pool, check into a place that has a public pool that you can use or if there is something nearby such as a waterpark, your kids would probably like that on a hot day. And then there is always the free but equally enjoyable option of just throwing on your bathing suit and running under the sprinkler on a really hot day. Either way, the kids will be back to school soon and summer will be over before you know it.
Yes the weather does affect mood. When it's dark and cloudy, it makes people feel gloomy. Usually sunshine makes people feel bright and sunny. If the heat is on, use fans if you don't have air conditioning. Perhaps your community has a public pool you can use? Plant trees around your house to provide shade. They will help cool you down also. Jet ski if you can. Enjoy lakes and rivers or go up mountains. The higher elevations are usually cooler. Go cave exploring if you have caverns around. Have you tried beaches?
