Strange laughing voice whilst daydreaming. Just a fluke or hearing things?

Question:
I was sitting alone in a park the other night in a city centre, I was all alone except for a couple walking a good 50 yards away. I was just sitting, thinking when I heard the voice of what sounded like an old woman laughing at me, like a really evil giggling. I stood up instantly, expecting to see some old homeless lady behind me or something, but noone was anywhere near. I checked behind the trees and even in the drains, THATS how close the voice sounded to my ear. So I went and sat on another bench, really freaked out by this evil invisible troll woman. I asked a lady walking past to do a giggle when she got to the same point of the park as this couple were, to see if there was any chance it was them, although she probably thought i was nuts, she did, and no, I could barely hear her and what I could hear souned echoed and far away. My bf says it could just be part of a daydream. (I never usually daydream, not sure how!) Has anyone else had this who ISNT mad? Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it if it only happened once.

When I was a teenager, my friends and I used to go around acting silly and making funny noises just to see what people would do.

Maybe it came from a passing car or something.

It's also possible you feel asleep for a few seconds and you were dreaming.

Lots of people have strange experiences they can't explain; as long as it doesn't cause problems in their lives, it's okay.
If it happens a lot and keeps the person from functioning normally, then they need treatment.

Several months ago, I thought I heard my dog who died last year; he had this funny sound he made and it sounded just like him. I told my psychiatrist and he thought it wasn't any big deal. (I have depression and anxiety, I have never been treated for hallucinations or any other form of psychosis).

If it happens repeatedly, tell a medical doctor. If it never happens again, I wouldn't worry about it.
Yeah. Sometimes it's just that weird feeling you get. I'll just space out on the couch, not really doing anything, and all of the sudden I hear this furious call of my name from my father, only to have him tell me he didn't call. If this hasn't happend to you before, I wouldn't really be worried. Depending on where you live, it could have actually been one of those repeating birds (I forgot what they're called) but I don't think you're crazy.
Well a long time ago I took a few yoga classes and the teacher always said that the sound of laughter was always from your ancestors. You may have interpreted it as 'evil' just because of your state of mind. Remember you said she was invisible, but also made her out to be a troll, so you know that was in your mind. My granny had a weird cackling laugh when she got to be quite old, in her 90s. She was a great loving person, but age had cracked her voice. Perhaps you had a spiritual moment and just twisted it to be evil due to previous superstitions taught to you or that you were paranoid just due to it being unexpected. Personally, I would search my heart and see if it could have just been the laughter of an oldster. You might be a lucky person and have heard the laughter from the other side and didn't know it.
