Does anyone take or have past experience with an SSRI for depression/anxiety that doesn't cause sexual?
Question:
Answers:
SSRI is selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. All the SSRI have sexual side effects.Because sex is mostly psychological.
I think I have tried most all the SSRI's and all have caused inability to reach orgasim or other sexual side effect. Didn't know, but apparently the side effects are about the same for females. That's why I'm on Wellbutrin. I can't say for sure about the knewest of the new but they seem to be combinations of SSRI's..maybe somebody has some good knews on this
they all suck. they made me loose my hair and i couldnt *** either. wellubutrin is a joke. maybe i'm just crazy.
All SSRIs have pretty much the same possible side effects. However, just because something is listed, doesn't mean it's inevitable. Your body will react differently to each of the meds, even if they're in the same class. Are Effexor or Cymbalta available there? They're not SSRIs, so you may have better luck with either of them, if you can get them.
Use Mirtazapine. Its a SNRI i think. It works great for anxiety and depression. You WILL gain weight though. It has no sexual side effects
I am on Zolof which it is the SSRI and it really affects my sexual life. I have been on serveral antidepresants and they all have affected me like that. I have not been on wellbutrin though they say it does not affect the sexual part.
I've been on DOZENS and DOZENS of SSRIs and tri-cyclics. I'm not convinenced that the drug had as much affect on my sex life...my depression never changed with any of the drugs (hence the number of them). Maybe it was finding a relationship that was right? Maybe it was something else...but for me, (and it is an individual thing, everyone is different about what works for them, even Wellbutrin isn't a holy grail -- wish there were one!) for me...I've had some really good moments and lost them again, and found them again. So, don't give up trying (even practicing alone!). And don't give up searching for some inner peace and balance. I might see you along the way!
Now, I'm risking getting too detailed here, but... if you're female, you might try um, mechanical (um) "toys" or something more intense than "normal". Your "pleasure" might just be a little shy under the circumstances. (You have to practice often too. Sometimes not in the mood? But try.) Try getting THAT advice from a doctor!! hee hee
Good luck and happy petting! =)
The only one I ever took that didn't slow me down in the bedroom was "Serzone". If you take it, be sure your Dr. also monitors your liver, because serzone has been linked to liver damage.
I have taken Celexa (citaprolam) for years with no sexual side effects.
