Hi. My doctor put me on topamax for ppmd and for weight loss. So far the only side effect I've had is the tingly limbs but it's nothing I can't live with. I've only been taking it for a week at 25 mg though.. But...I have noticed a decrease in my appetite. I could use the weight loss side effect. It is also supposed to stabalize my mood since I go to a very dark place at that time of the month. So far it seems to be helping and I don't think it has really kicked in yet. I really researched this drug and weighed the pros and cons and discussed it with my doctor and I decided it was the right way to go. My suggestion is to do some research and talk to your doctor about any concerns you have and then make an educated choice. I have heard very good things about this drug and everyone I know who has taken it has lost quite a bit of weight. Good Luck!
Topamax is used for treatment of migraines. Is this what you're using this medication for?

I encourage you to look at this website, then talk to your doctor.
I'm using topamax right now and it was prescribed to me to help prevent my daily migraines. As an added benefit I've lost 10 pounds in the past 2 weeks. However, it does have a plethora of side effects which you should consider carefully before you take this drug. Aside from suppressing my appetite, I have had tingling limbs, all soda's have a metallic taste, I've had problems remembering things (names of friends, places etc), I've misspelled/mistyped words, had a decreased attention span, been prone to mood swings and I've been losing my hair. So, though the weight loss may seem wonderful, it does come at a price.
