if you wish, if you are a Muslim, please follow the below chanting. keep your right palm on your fore head and say "YA SALAAM 100 times before you go to sleep. surely you Will be relived from all depression
You should see a doctor, even if he/she might give you medication.
Just because you think you are too young for anti-depressants doesn't mean you are. See a doctor. Talk therapy may help and if you tell the doc you don't want meds doc can help in other ways.
You may also want to consider writing in a journal.
Cry, then. It will make you feel better. I know my screen name says otherwise but it's true -- crying helps you relieve whatever burden you're carrying. Just don't cry everyday. Write in your journal, express your bottled up emotions.

And, remember to talk to someone.

It worked for me.
You should talk to your parents, and then find a counselor who can help you. You won't necessarily be put on medication, that is ultimately up to you and your family. Depression can be very overwhelming and you may feel like no one else would understand. There are people out there who do. I do.

Natural ways to help with depression are to exercise, (it boosts your seratonin naturally), and just find someone to talk to. As hard as it is to get out of bed when you are feeling so low, make yourself. I have a very good friend whose father and brother are manic depressive/bipolar. My friend was starting to feel the slip, and didn't want to take medication either, and he started lifting weights and running. He said both things helped him regulate his moods, burn off the manic energy and give him the strength to go to school and work afterward. He also had a tremendous bod from working out, and when I met him, he was about two years into the working out thing. We hit it off great, and became very good friends. He lived in Washington D.C., and I live in Michigan, so we became penpals. He wrote letters in calligraphy, again, he said that gave him a sense of control and beauty in life. He was a banker, but also a magician, and made pretty good dough doing magic at social events. For Chris, the best way to deal with the depression and not end up institutionalized like his brother was to keep very busy, and find things that interested him enough even on the very bad days to keep him going.

For me, as a teenager I was very depressed and suicidal feeling at times. I worked a lot, had a few very close friends, wrote in journals, read, did embroidery, anything to keep my mind off what was bothering me. (It was at that point my alcoholic parents divorcing and my best friend getting killed in a car accident.) I also saw the school counselor, a psychologist, and had friends who were going through the same things. I didn't want to end up like my parents either, so I wouldn't drink or take drugs. (Back then there weren't antidepressants, I mean drugs like pot or coke.) Keeping myself busy still helps. I love to bake, and when I am really in a down cycle, I make myself get up and bake and decorate a cake and give it away to someone.

If you feel its all too much, call your local mental health hotline. Look in the phone book for one in your area. They will find you the help you need.
Sorry you are feeling this way. It sounds only too familiar to me, as I've been there too many times to count!
You say you are too young to take antidepressants.
Well, you are too young to feel so rotten, aren't you?
Yes, teens are at a greater risk for suicide when on antidepressants. But if you have a good doctor who really keeps up with your mental status, antidepressants can be very helpful when going through what you are now.
I have been on and off antidepressants many times. I understand your hesitation here.
But I know you can be helped to feel better. I know it!
Anyhow, the Dr. might not prescribe antidepressants.
Who knows? But he can help you.
If these symptoms last much longer, go see a Dr. Okay?
Good luck from someone who knows how it feels!!
this, unfortunately, is depression. it is a mix of anxious feelings and unhappy feelings and you just feel like there is something wrong and something to cry about. don't worry, there are ways to resolve this problem without the use of anti-depressants because thousands of kids all ages suffer from depression and your doctor will know what to do. get help, and you will be fine! a psychlogist can help too. cognative (spell?) behavioral therapy is a good treatment that doesn't involve medicine, too. ask your doctor.
