First day working at blockbuster feel like quitting?
Question:
Answers:
First day are always tough. The more you work the easier it will become.
Just stick with it, we're all nervous on the first day! Before you know it, you'll be able to answer nearly every question that comes your way. It'll just take some time.
umm.
well go over every single question that someone might ask you,
with another worker,
so you cna answer without feeling nervous.
and ask a coworker before you answer, just ot make sure.
if theres no one nearby, and you dont know what to say,
just say
"im very sorry, but this is my 1st dya working here, and ill go asking someone at the counter"
or something like that.
works a bitcch so is hunger
Hey, it's cool if you don't know. Half of the blockbuster people don't know squat. Youre not the only one. Just remember that. There are so many movies out there, if you could answer all the questions you'd be, ummm, an extremely well-learned movie buff.
A good rule of thumb is, if you don't have a good answer, say, "I'm afraid I don't know, but if you give me a moment I can speak with my coworker or check the movie guide."
Something else I want to add, a good character builder is to stick through something that is hard for you. It will give you more confidence in yourself if you make it through and don't give up. Don't give up! :)
relax and learn, go home splash some water on yourself and learn how to wash your face.
if they know the movie, you can look it up on the computer once they show you how, if they describe a movie and you have no clue, just say you never saw that or suggest it's some movie that you know it's not, "oh was that manchurian candidate." of course it wasn't it was a talking rabbit. As far a policy of the store you don't know, you'll learn. A lot of people stand around thier 1st day just saying sorry i'm new and this sounds like your 1st job so i think you'll be al right tomorrow. just get some rest tonight.
Sounds like you had a normal first day. Pretty much any job that hires teens is going to be similar. Don't quit now give it a chance because the longer you are there the more you will learn the ropes. The simple way to deal with it is tell the customer(s) that you can't answer their question but you would be more than happy to refer them to someone who can help them better. I'm sure the more experienced employees would be more than happy to help you out with the customers.
If you don't know the answer it doesn't matter.
Just keep going, be there on time.
That's all that matters. Inside of a month, you will be running the place.
Its very normal to feel so nervous the first day on the job. There are so many things you have to learn and it's only your first day on the job. Is there another employee working with you that can ask when a customer asks you a question you can't answer? That is the only way you will learn. As time goes on you will get more knowledgeable so don't give up. It will get easier :)
I completely empathize with you. i have been there before a few times. The best of luck to you. Always remember to keep positive and no matter what think positive calm reassuring thoughts to your self about yourself. (I am competent, I can stay calm, breathe, I am a good worker, I will like to hold my pay check, this moment wont last for ever, ill be proud if I stick it out) Try the job at least a week. If its not your cup of tea then find something less nerve racking and with a more chill atmosphere. Good luck and stay away from caffine!
The words "I don't know, but I'll find out" work really well on most customers, especially if you act like it's an interesting question they've just posed. They may not think you're a movie guru, but they'll get this feeling that you're on their side. And that will please almost any customer. Of course, you need to actually find out the answer to their question--surely your co-workers won't strand you at the cash register on your second day of work?
Another idea, a bit longer-term: Spend some of your off-time looking at Blockbuster's website. Start with new releases, then go into categories and subcategories. You'll get to know more movie titles and which genre they belong to. Then go to work a few minutes early, and peruse the movies that the store actually has in stock.
It sounds like they haven't given you any training at all, which is pretty crappy, but you can do it! Just look at your co-workers--are they any smarter than you are?
Ah yes, good ol' Blockbuster. I worked there like a zillion years ago. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you're training! Also, take advantage when you're facing. Read the backs of the movies. As you go along it will get easier. Use those 5 free rentals a week to get familiar with different genres of film. Once you get used to the crazy customers, it'll be fine. The key is to smile! Even when they're throwing money in your face and demanding a rain check for some stupid new release.
I am going to be getting a job and i know once i have that first day it will be good. The first day is always the worse cause your new to it so you have to get used to your surroundings. Congratz on getting a job. If they ask you questions just get one of your co-workers to answer it your new you have an excuse for not knowing.
