What are some things you do to calm down?

Question:
When you feel like a piece of crap.

I am NOT looking for self-destructive things, I have enough of that.

Answers:
So I am assuming you are dealing with some sort of depression, correct? Yes, I have had that happen to me before, GT! Does it seem like to you that not much matters anymore, and you will never be happy agin? It lasted for quite some time with me (3-4 months), but it finally passed, and I was so happy! I know you must hear this repetiavely, but hold on, and it will pass! Try your best to put up with it now, not hurt yourself or anything around you, and later you will be gratefull!

Now, as for things I like to do when I am felling glumish, I like to cook! I do not know if that would hit your spot or not, but I enjoy it! I also (as someone else mentioned) like to take a bubble bath! Those are alaways fun and relaxing at the same time! (Of course, candels and insense are not required!) Perhaps there is something around your house you may enjoy that you have not yet tried! gardening, for instance? Or painting/drawing? Those are just some ideas, experiment and find something that makes you happy and gives you a sense of fulliment!

Do not give up, you will fell better soon! : )

Karl, what are you talking about? Your room is a complete disaster! I hardly consider clothes all over the floor neat, even if they are aranged and "organized"! perhaps you should put them in your CLOSET, where they belong!

(Sorry, I attempted to revert my avatar back to it's origional form, but an error appeared! (Princess Queller, remember!)
Well, The most popular things for general relaxation are Valerian, Chamomile, and Hops. but some people actually wake up when they take these and are just very relaxed.

There are a number of natural supplements that also help a lot of people with stress and their mood. St. John's Wart, SAMe, some B-Vitamins, L-Tryptophan/5-HTP (for relaxation and sleep), GABA, Ashwagandha, L-Theanine, and Valerian (also for sleep) are some of the most popular and most effective mood support, stress relievers, and/or relaxing supplements.
Get your mind off of what you are thinking about, and take deep breaths. Sounds like anxiety.
Deep breaths thinking of peaceful and happy things.
listen to music that you really like and can sing and dance along to
Crap isn't very descriptive, unless that's the latest medical term.

But I'll try.

Is it stress or depression?

Do push-ups. Or any other form of exercise
Exercise is always good for everything.
paint. i'm an awful painter.. i dont' mean landscapes or anything like that.. just take out the regular old crayola paint containers and a piece of paper.. put on some music and paint blobs or shapes or whatever.. creating something with my hands helps me get out what's inside.

sometimes i go for a difficult hike, or bike up a hill.. get the aggression/anger out that way.

also.. this sometimes makes me feel better..sometimes it brings me down but it's always interesting - www.postsecret.com
there are many ways which are not same for all the people

u should just think what you like more.
GT - One thing I learned that really helps me calm down is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Emotional Tapping. In EFT you apply gentle acupressure tapping to specific body points to release blocked emotions. EFT is easy to learn (you can learn the basics in 15-30 minutes). You can use EFT anytime, anywhere for any emotional or physical issue. One basic round of EFT takes about one minute to complete. EFT works quickly and is virtually painless (and NO DRUGS).

Please download the FREE EFT Instructional manual from the EFT website (www.emofree.com). Also, please watch the FREE EFT Introductory video.

I learned how to use EFT last year and now use it everyday. EFT really works. - ONE TECHNIQUE THAT YOU CAN USE WHENEVER YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN is just TAPPING LIGHTLY ON THE SIDE OF EITHER HAND (where you would do a karate chop) for about ONE MINUTE.
I sing a song. I am a horrible singer so I usually have to put a lot of thought into. I also clean. Whenever I'm really angry I'll clean everything top to bottom. It's productive and it keeps my mind off whatever is bothering me. Try singing while cleaning. That would be the ultimate forget -you-action!
I used to only fell bad occasionaly, although it's happening more and more as of late (I screwed everyhing up with one of my friends!)! I like to drown myself with orange juice or coffee (i know, yuck!) Sports are also good, and for me drawing is to! I also like to take my g-pigs out to eat grass, for some reason that's alaways had a calming effect on me! Sometimes organizing my room also helps, I can spend hours there prepeturaly re-aranging things and organizing my stuff! i don't know if any of those would be halpful for you or not, but that's just what I like to do! (Please excuse the ill-organized nature of my awnser! thanks!)
what i usually do to calm down or relax is taking a hot bubble bath with scented candles.lay in the dark cool ( if possible ) bedroom and listen to soft music, you can read a good book like any of the chicken soup for the soul books. good luck to you
Watch a funny movie.read comic books...shopping.eat something i love that i haven't eaten a while...Basically anything to get me away from feeling down...and somehow i'll just remember that life is just to good to feel bad... ^^
