How do I stop spending money?

I spend soend spend and its all stuff i really dont need. It is an addiction. people laugh at me but it is really sick and I cant help it. I quit smoking for over a year but cant stop spending money. it has gotton worse since I quit smoking. any ideas? becises waiting until I am so poor that I dont have 2 nickles to rub together? HELP

Well it's obviously an addiction. You got rid of one addiction & filled it w/ another. There is a support group for shopping, I think it's Debtor's Anonymous.

I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad - it curbed my spending quickly b/c I saw that what I was doing made no sense at all.

Find some free sh!t to waste time on. That should help.

Cut up your credit cards first. You might also want to consider getting rid of your debit cards. Make it less convenient to spend. If you have to write out a check or pay with cash every time you buy something, it'll help make you realize how much money you're wasting.

I literally froze my ATM card in a container of water.
