Attitudes affected by smoking, drinking?
Question:
I've been friends with someone for a very long time and it seems to me their attitude is very touchy recently- just wondering if one of the possible causes could be the sudden deterrent from the smoking & drinking.
What are your thoughts?
Answers:
I quit smoking cold turkey 4 months ago. From time to time I would be an a-hole to people, but I was never angry at anyone in particular. Sometimes when people were lighting up around me I would talk about how sweet it smelled to me, and then I would leave the room. Actually, it was weird but several girls thought I was way more attractive after I quit smoking. That proves that some girls really do like guys who say some offensive things, not to mention guys that have an iron will. Anyway, with your friend, it really depends on the person. For me, after about a month the cravings for cigarettes had mostly subsided and I was my normal self again. Only better than before because I didn't smell like smoke and I felt healthier in general.
In my opinion, quitting drinking alcohol will make people MUCH MUCH worse to be around than former cigarette smokers. Especially if they had previously been heavy drinkers. With many people, drinking and smoking go hand-in-hand. So it's very difficult for some people to have a beer without lighting up a smoke to go with it. I just chew gum instead. Plus my teeth are whiter now. Rock on!
Yes, a sudden drastic change in lifestyle does cause a person to be a more sensitive. Just give it time and your friend will be his/herself again.
If they are used to a substance and don't have it, yes, they can be very foul tempered!
Absolutely!
