I have done two sessions with an occupational therapist to help me with my depression.?

Question:
I don't feel this is helping me. I can't stop because I am afraid I will have problems with my company insurance company. Has anyone had this type of therapy. Did you find this helpful and did it work.

Answers:
Make sure that you go into therapy with an open mind. Make sure you do what they're telling you to do (within reason, of course), and you will get the most out of it. You can't expect to feel better after 2 sessions. The main purpose of occupational therapy is to make indepence possible. If you give it a little more of a chance, and you still feel that it isn't working, I would recommend going to a psychologist, for more of a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach. Best of luck!
Occupational therapy? Or is it an EAP therapist? If it and EAP (employee assistance program) therapist, you can't get in trouble for seeking or for discontinuing treatment, as long as it doesn't involve drug abuse. An occupational therapist isn't really qualified to help you with depression.
I've been to counseling several times and each time came out feeling worse. One time I felt like running my car into the tree.

My suggestion is don't give up on seeking therapy. You have to find a therapist that you can relate to. Most therapists just want to dig and dig into your past. Sometimes it's our past we're trying to run away from. But I know from personal experience, in order to get the help I needed, I HAD to visit that time that made me who I am today. But my new therapist didn't dwell on it. We've moved on and now we're seeking ways to deal with it. This has made going to therapy so much easier.

I truly hope you find someone you're comfortable with. Oh yeah, one more suggestion..seek someone who does "cognitive therapy". More than likely a psychiatrist.

Take care and be blessed.
Yes It works..But you need to tell your therapist that your not sure if therapy is working for you. A good therapist would want to know this. Also be sure to tell him or her what works and what does not. The last thing a therapist wants is for a patient to just stop showing up. As far as the insurance thing, I see no problem with stopping any time. After all you would be saving them money. To be sure of this call the number on the back of insurance card.
