One very good way is through positive affirmations. Write down several 3x5 cards. Write something positive on each one such as "I AM A STRONG PERSON", "I AM IMPORTANT" etc. Carry these cards with you and read them several times a day focusing on what they say.
You have to get a positive mind set first of all. Tell yourself everday that you are worth it. You have to believe it to feel it. Think about things you would like to do and follow through. Fix yourself up for no reason. SMILE-constantly even if you don't have a reason. I used to hate my smile and since I have to for my job I have noticed how much just a smile can change someones day. Just remember everyday you are WORTH it.
Establish an easily attainable goal and go after it. Success breeds confidence.

we its not going to pop out of a cabbage but you do need to grow it.
get involved with life, learn skills , martal arts is my favorite, then ski,ing white water kayaking, go on a white water rafting tour. indoor rock climbing.
get fit and strong, develop your body and phisical skills and the mind will follow.
no ones going to hand cofidence to you on a plate so just take a chance get out and DO IT!
hell you may even make some cool new freinds who are real people with real skills and real lives unlike stuped selfish "beuterfull people" who just build their ego,s by keeping others down.

There are a number of different ways to increase your confidence, though I think one of the best is to start to believe in yourself. Nobody is a nobody!
Ask yourself some questions, what's good about yourself? What are you good at? What do you like about yourself?
Start to focus on the good things about you and about your life and that will help you feel better about yourself, which will lead to more self confidence.
You can also become more confident from your body language. http://www.unlimitedconfidence.com/walki... is a very good article telling you how to project confidence from your body language. Simple by walking in a confident manner and keeping your posture in a self confident manner you will find that you automatically become more self confident.
Seriously, it is that easy. I know it sounds like faking it, and perhaps it is, but does it matter as you feel more confident? And the more you do it, the more it becomes second nature and after just a few weeks you find yourself always having a posture the projects self confidence without even thinking about it.
There are a couple of resources listed below with lots of articles and information on self confidence that may be useful to you. Basically, the key is to practise being confident and it won't be long before you really are confident.
