Do I have social phobia or anxiety?
Question:
Answers:
Social Anxiety Disorder
Some of the signs and symptoms include:
1. An extreme fear of a situation in which you have to meet new people or you may be scrutinized by others.
2.The feared social situations are experienced with intense anxiety or avoided entirely.
3.The anxiety-provoking social situation causes physical symptoms like blushing, sweating, shaking, trembling, tense muscles, shaky voice, dry mouth or a pounding heart.
The basic symptom of social anxiety disorder is of being very anxious in the presence of others. If you suffer from social anxiety disorder, you may think that other people are very confident in public and you are not. Just blushing may feel horribly embarrassing to you, and you may feel like everyone's eyes are always on you. You may feel anxious about giving a speech, talking to a boss or dating.
Some people with social anxiety disorder are afraid of public speaking or parties. Others feel terrible anxiety about using a public restroom, eating out, talking on the phone or writing in front of others.
Almost everyone experiences some social anxiety now and then; it's normal. However, social anxiety disorder consistently limits the lifestyle of those with the illness, in some cases causing them to not participate in school, avoid making friends or miss important opportunities at work. Some people with social anxiety disorder avoid all socially related situations, severely limiting their life, work and social relationships
yes,,, absolutely you have social phobia or agoraphobia. you must overcome it, or else your personality will be down.
i think it just an anxiety try to make friends
Both, what you have sounds like agoraphobia (I think I spelt it wrong but anyway), it is the fear of being in public places. Talk to your parents, and your doctor, some medication like Zoloft maybe able to help.
You need to tell Mom or Dad what you are feeling because it is not normal for a fifteen year old. You seem to be suffering from what appears to me to be social anxiety disorder. You need to tell someone how you are feeling. You may need some counseling with a Therapist and then again you may need medication that will help you out with it but that is the purpose of a Psychiatrist or a regular doctor. Please tell someone how you feel so that you can start living a normal life for a person your age. Good Luck
I know how you feel. I couldn't even walk down the street at your age. When I was 16 I started to see a counselor which helped A LOT! She diagnosed me with social anxiety disorder and put me on paxil CR. Medicine like that can be kind of dangerous at that age though. I would recomend talking to your parents and your doctor about counseling. But most of all, you need to reach inside yourself and find some self esteem. Once you realize that you are a wonderful, unique individual with a lot to offer in this world a lot of your fear will go away. Don't let this fear control your life or you will never start driving, you won't finish school, go to college or get a job. Push yourself to get out and do things and realize that no one is staring at you!
good luck!
seems perfectly normal to me, i wouldn't jump the gun and call you antisocial since usually you just get over things like this.
OMG.. That me.. I have a little of it.. But people pick on me..
Firstly do not be too quick to label yourself.
Saying that you have a phobia or a disorder is a really good way to accept the problem and give up trying to do anything about it.
Remember you can change how you behave and how you feel. You ARE in control.
I used to struggle with similar issues but worked on the issues one by one. Now I am perfectly happy giving presentations in front of 100s of people.
I have listed a source of exercises that you should try which will get you going in the right direction.
Good Luck!
