Weird Bets with Myself?
Question:
If I don't get up before 8:32 I'll die...or
If I don't get up the stairs in 3 seconds I'll die...
I always create these bets so I can accomplish them, but even though I know nothing will happen, I make sure to do them anyways. Why am I constantly making bets with myself, about completely stupid things?
Answers:
Sounds like you are super motivated, and also suffering from mini anxiety attacks at the same time. You need to find a hobby to do that will take away some of this extra anxiety and calm yourself down. Even if it's a small as playing games, fishing, surfing the web, whatever. Personally I play MMORPGs (online games) - they are great for stress reduction and for social interaction too.
If it gets the job done, roll with it! You are your own motivating factor!
i dont make the consequences as harsh but i make bets with myself all the time. people do little wierd things. if its really bad though it could maybe be ocd??
Because you will know it will help you succeed in what you are doing. When you get older you will probably still do stuff like tht but not as much cause your mind is so busy doing other stuff, it isn't a bad thing, but your mind knows mentally you will listen to your own bets.
omg thats weird cuz i do da exact same thing! im sure nothings wrong w/ it.
As long as you don't hear voices or see things, you're fine.
I used to make those bets with myself, until one time...I got to the top of the stairs, and...I WAS ALREADY STANDING THERE!!! OMG!!
lol, ok, so I wasnt and just made that up
OH MY GOD. maybe i AM normal..i do do that too!! i got so worried about myself that one day i made it so i couldnt acomplish it...it felt wierd ..but i didnt die :D:D so thats a bonus! well i would love to hear from anyone who has a reasonable answer to our slightly odd thoughts!
i suppose it maybe the sense of accomplishment we like...although i havnt really noticed it! yet i do feel my adrenaline pump and then feel a great deal of relief when i do accomplish it.
