Answers:
I have not been, but I have worked in the law-enforcement community.

You are not alone in feeling anxiety about going out and possibly being attacked again. A lot of crime victims look back in hindsight and wished they had fought back. But when a street crime occurs, the victim is almost always caught off-guard and does not have the time to think and resist. You should not criticize yourself for not fighting back.

There are several proactive measures you can take to avoid the same situation. If you feel that going out is unsafe, travel with at least one other person. Your chances of being attacked are reduced significantly when you are accompanied by people. Also, be aware of your surroundings. Criminals like to have the element of surprise, so if you see them coming you have a better chance of not being victimized and defending yourself. Just as police officers mentally prepare themselves for the situations they may encounter, you should mentally walk through an attack. It may be difficult, but mental and physcial preparedness are keys to reacting quicker; it is mental rehearsal.

well believe it or not there are good people in the world. I am so sorry for your bad luck. Keep talking to your doctor and stay in therapy. Also there are medications you can take for your anxiety. Ask your doctor about that. I really hope you start to feel better. God bless you.

ADD, what are treathments and ways to keep it under control?

I can imagine how you feel and it is really so wrong that anyone should be made to feel like that. I can only assume the attacks have happened at night, which is the usual with this type of coward. The only advice I can give is to make sure you are not alone in the streets at night and if you do have to go somewhere alone, make sure you get a taxi or lift. I hope the counselling helps. God bless :)
