I am on zoloft and i am scared that i can't live without it. if i run out and miss four or five doses i feel

Question:
sad and my mood just goes downward and i end up having suicidal thoughts. will i ever get better?

Answers:
First of all, don't panic. Continue to take your medication as prescribed by your doctor. Don't miss any more doses and allow your body to get back to a therapeutic level. When your medication is at a working level, you can think much clearer and more logically and your mood is sustained. Once you are feeling better, you should consult your physician. That is the best person to respond to your question of getting better. It is understandable that you don't want to be dependent on anti-depressants. Your doctor can educate you about other meds that are being marketed which may have lighter dosages or create less dependency. He may also be able to suggest alternative methods that can be useful to you in the future when you are ready for that move. For now, be good to yourself and keep taking your zoloft. Also, you may wish to seek the assistance of a therapist who can often help you gain new perspective about your future. A therapist can also teach you skills to cope with your specific area of concern. I know first hand how you feel! Be thankful that for now you can be well and work on your health with your physician. Best wishes to you.
I think you have a mental dependance on Zoloft. I used to take Prozac and if i missed one dose i would panic. You definatly need to talk to your mental health professional about your suicidal thoughts when you miss your dosages though. maybe they can switch you to something else.
First of all, make sure you don't run out. You can't miss any doses, that's why you feel said. Be responsible with your medication.
Well you shouldn't run out or miss doses. I'm not the same thing. You go through withdrawals and it can make you worse. Things do get better, but you can't rely solely on the Zoloft.
Right now you probably can't live without it. You need to take your medication as prescribed for the time being. Once you've been on it for a significant period of time your mood begins to stabilize. Some people can stop taking it after 6months to a year. Other people need it for a longer period or all their life. If the medication makes you feel stable and better, why not take it?? If you had diabetes and needed medication to live, wouldn't you take it? Yeah it sucks to have to take meds, but isn't it worth it if the quality of your life is improved??
