Do you ever get annoyed when you ask a serious question and get...?
Question:
Answers:
yes, I often get aggravated by it as well depending on how it is phrased. When people share that it is what they do, I can't fault them for that and for many it is a way in which they learn to "let go and let God" so to speak. Most folks mean well and are just sharing what works for them. But when some say "all you need is the Lord" etc. I get aggravated as mental health problems are not the result of a spiritual defect and to suggest that lacking a relationship with God is the root of the problem is insulting and demeaning to the asker. This isn't "religion and spirituality", it's mental health and people are looking for informed and educated answers or suggestions based on people's own experience with a particular problem.
yes i get very very annoyed when those who don't know the answer to the question use "pray and god will tell you what to do" instead of just saying look i really don't know the answer to that.
Look at your question. It answers itself.
You get annoyed. You already know why it annoys you.
You control your mind. No one else does.

There are answers that are obviously poor answers. Some are hostile and not helpful. Others are silly.
What helps is to do a search on the topic before or after posting. There are thousands of questions that are exactly alike. Suicide, depression, anxiety and sleeplessness have all been covered. Sometimes reading answers for four or five similar questions gives you more direction.
I agree totally!
Yes, but you must remember and if you choose to, respect people's various beliefs, some people are rasied very strict especially when it comes to religion and don't have any other open-mindedness when it comes to psychology or counseling, if someone tells you that, simply try to find your answer elsewhere...it when people say "geto ver it" that pisses me off..
LOL! I totally understand. I am like thanks... I know to pray, but I need some advice. I'd rather the person be honest and say that only prayers will help you now (if the situation is that bad). If not and they tell me that, they just don't want to get involved.
it all depends on the intention of the answerer. if the answer was given by a staunch believer in the bible, i would not get annoyed. it is his/her opinion. some times i get annoyed for the answers of self styled omniscient who plagiarize answers from wikipedia and the answers of some people who try to humiliate the asker by giving irrelevant answers.
pray is not a stupid answer. It is valid and it does work. No one is forcing you to do it if you don't want to. A lot of these answers come from experience and if someone else believes in God and in prayer then they try to help you with that. With all the answers you get it is ultimately your choice whether or not to accept the advice given and if you don't want to pray then don't. But prayer is serious advice.
She didn't say it was stupid, she said it was annoying(I assume when 1/2 of teh answers are "turn to god")
Good point
