Happiness too much to take?

Hi,
I can tell you what helped me. Traditional psychology and psychiatry may be necessary if your symptoms are severe. Medication can help, for sure. However, until very recently psychologists and psychiatrists have placed all their efforts in defining what's wrong with people, spending little or no time studying happy people and the causes of happiness. But try reading some beginning books on Buddhism. It's not a religion in the same way we think of a religion in the West. The Buddha (just a title of respect meaning "the awakened one") claimed to be nothing more than an ordinary human being. He stated clearly that his mission was to help people overcome suffering and cultivate the causes of happiness. The teachings the Buddha delineated really do offer a framework for overcoming suffering and finding happiness. They are practical and can be tested experientially. One of the best things about Buddhism is that you are not fed dogma that you must believe even if it doesn'tmake sense; but you are encouraged to test teachings for yourself and accept only what resonates for you. It helped me after 9/11 to cope with the shock of what happened, and the strangeness of seeing military equipment and armed soldiers in the streets of DC, near where I live.
Hope this helps some. Best wishes and good luck!
Ive heard of this before..I think you should talk to a shreink. This is a condition that is treatable. Good luck hun.
I'm Bipolar (not that I'm saying you are.I don't play a doctor on TV), but I think I know your "happy" feelings. I was usually depressed all the time, but I had flashes of weird not the norm happiness that just came over me like a rush. I did so many stupid things because it felt good, until it got very dark. Then I went back to depression. I never knew if my happy thoughts were real or the beginning of a roller coaster. with meds and therapy i haven't been like that in 3 years. Stable as a table. Check out a psychiatrist. If you're not interested, you have nothing to lose. But you could have so much to gain...
Best wishes,
Amelia
It sounds like a case of severe depression to me. I would recommend see a dr. or psychiatrist as soon as possible, and describe your symptoms to them.
kinda, especially, when i reminisce, but basicly i'm bored, you need to find a positive hobby that you like, and go out and do things that uplifts your spirits, movies, concerts, coffeeshops, volunteer, museums, walking, you can think, when you're alone, or you can meet people!
hope you feel better, and find true happiness :o)
same here if understood your question correctly...
^^sometimes i feel so scared to be happy because i know after that theres a two fold misery coming my way.
