Erh. Depression and parents? please help.?

Question:
Well, i have been depressed for about 8-9 months. and i have been going through hard times for about 2 years now. i have asked for help twice at different times, and they sent me to two different therapists. i couldn't stand it. i just don't like sitting there and talking, it just makes my issues worse and it is so uncomfortable. i don't want to try that again. how can i let them know i want help, but not in that way? what are other options? i don't know if my case is bad enough to get meds and i am only a teen. I just want to be happy again. What can i do?

Answers:
Do you drink water? I know it sounds stupid, but dehydration causes depression. Seriously. Do you eat a lot of junk foods and drink a lot of soft drinks? This can also cause depression. What about your friends? Are they downers? Find things that make you happy, and do them more often. If you can't talk to your parents, find another adult that you can talk to. Maybe a school counselor or a teacher. Surely there's some good ones around your school that you're comfortable with. I know you're probably out for the summer, but around here, there are a lot of teachers that would love to hear from students needing a shoulder, even in the middle of summer break. Make yourself smile. It might make you feel silly, but hey, maybe it will make you laugh. Good Luck.
In order to get meds you will most likely have to go back to your therapist. At least go back and discuss your options with your therapist.
doctors are worthless.. meds are even more useless than dirt. If you're depressed go find a friend and just try to have a good time. swallow your pride and do what ever it takes to bounce back... go do something crazy, wild, fun, exotic, memorable. Come to think about it it's easier said than done.. but the hard times will pass. Just hold on a little longer, if u wanna talk so that I can know a little more about your problem just pm me kay? lates
You should try to find something that you and your parents enjoy doing together. Maybe go fishing with your dad, or go camping. If your not outdoorsy, try painting a picture together, or find a television show you like. Make a tradition, every saturday rent a movie you all enjoy.
Find something you love to do, something that everyday you look forward to everyday. Also finding somebody to talk to is a really good idea. It doesn't have to be a therapist but you really shouldn't have to deal with issues by yourself. It doesnt even have to be in person. Emails are a great thing for people who dont like one on ones in person.
I have done therapy. It didn't work for me either. Just make the best of it for now. Your whole life is in front of you. It gets better.
If you have been having problems for over 2 years, then you definitely need medications. There are medications out there that teens can use safely. Sometimes talk therapy alone does not work. I think your parents are doing the best they can for you, but have they requested that you not be given any medications? If they don't want you to take drugs, you could try alternative medications like St. John's Wort, which is very popular in Europe. It takes a little longer to take effect, but once it does, it works almost as well as some of the prescription meds out there. St. John's Wort can be purchased at any drug store. But if it was me, I would go to a health food store and purchase the stuff there. The people that work at the store are usually very helpful.
Why doesnt everyone just yeah.Hope that helps
I know how you feel. Sometimes meds may be one of the few ways that may help you. I take that your not 18. I was lucky enough to be that age. Well if you see a primary care physician you can always ask them to prescribe you the meds. A therapist can not prescribe meds... so your better off not going back especially if they don't help you. And alot of anti-depressants are expensive. It works on a trial and error bases. If one doesn't work you have to try the next one. Treatment is a 6 month period so you have to be able to maintain it. As soon as you come off in any point with out weening your self off you may fall deeper into depression. So you may want to be careful
First of all, you are not honest with yourself, second if you want help and dont want the therapy, then theres not much help for you. because really dont want it. If you truly are seeking the answers, then you would be willing to talk the therapist. Sometimes we as humans complain about our lot of life. but dont want to work at it, for the results we desire. Depression is something to talk about because it mess's your thinking up. If un-treated it could be damageing. But we all need to accept the truth and sometimes that hurts, for one it means that we have to take responbile for our actions. and our words. If talking to someone, and that is uncomfortable for you.. then you need to do some self-examining of what you really want.
