Just before you get ready to lie down, take a 1/2 Xanax, then lie down and relax. This should allow you to get ample sleep until you see your physician.
Yes, it sounds like now would be a good time to take a xanax. That's what it's there for.

just lay down and relax. I'm not going to say you should take anything.
It certainly won't hurt to take one Xanax if that's what you were taking before.
what did your dr. say you should do? my grams always took a glass of hot milk and an aspirin, but you'd have to check to see if the aspirin would react w/ any of the other meds you're on.
take it especially if it is or was prescribed to you it will help you and it will put you to sleep long enough to see your doctor, and when you see your doctor ask for Valium instead because Xanax is short lasting but very power, Valium is still powerful and long lasting so hopefully this won't happen to you again
As you probably know, Xanax is a short term antianxiety medication. If you haven't slept, taking one Xanax will not harm you. It will basically make you feel less anxious, and as a notable benefit will aid you in sleeping.
If your psychiatrist hasn't already told you this, you would be well served to seek cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) from a licensed psychologist. This treatment will, in the course of just a few weeks, allow you to totally rid yourself of the excessive anxiety that the panic attacks cause and will give you skills and techniques necessary to appropriately and effectively address any anxiety, depression, anger, or any emotion that you encounter in the future. Best of luck!
I'd calm down, drink a lot of milk as it contains a protein alpha-lactalbumin, rich in tryptophan, that tells the brain to sleep.
Hi bcbc,
I agree with the others take the xanax, if you have no adverse reaction to it. Investigate with your psychiatrist if you need it as necassary or need to take it more regularly to receive its optimum effect. Some minor tranquilizers like Xanax among some persons can be addictive in the long-term so investigate further with him. Frisium or Lexotan are some others which can help, lexapro also has a good reputation. Certainly many persons find minor tranquilzers help them sleep better, some claim not to be able to sleep without them. Deal also with any cognitive or emotional issues you may have and which cause the acute anxiety you say you experience. Don't worry or panic, you have the help you need in the palm of your hand. Always work with your psychiatrist, consultant or GP in these matters.
Best of luck and God bless.

I personally would say yes, to take the xanax, isn't that what's it for? I'm not being snotty with that remark either, I just know people that take the xanax can take an extra pill if feeling anxious, even if it is before their next dose.
Geez, I must be really screwed up. I haven't slept in 30 hours. I take Xanax 1 mg, 3 times a day. Don't be stupid like I was and take 15 at once. I peed on myself 4 times that night. Can't really remember anything before that. Wife was freaking out. I guess that's why I don't have her anymore. I've been on so much medication for so long that my body just doesn't really respond to it anymore. I can take 6 Xanax at once and not even feel any relief from the anxiety. Won't even put me to sleep. I take Seroquel to sleep, anywhere from 900 to 1500 mgs. But I shouldn't take more than 1000.
You could take one or maybe 2, but no more than that. I mean, if the .5 mgs helps you, then try taking 1 and lying down. If you still can't sleep after a half hour, try taking another one. Believe me though, don't take more. Didn't know it could stop my heart.
Pretty stupid of me.
doctor will give you sleeping pills and other stuff like that, which expensive and unnature.
