she has been on aricept over a year, she was fine/normal last wednesday and BOOM over night HUGE change. Her mom had it and she progressed but it was at a pace, unlike mom who was overnight change. Has any1 else heard of this?

Maybe she had a stroke. I think a cat scan would be in order. My mom gets mini strokes that don't seem to effect her physically, but she gets a little rum-dummy for days.

She probably had a stroke. Now it is time to talk about palliative care. Would she really benefit from going to the hospital. These are your mom's last days. My advice is to make them as comfortable as possible. Her body will decline if you take her to the hospital or not.

There is an organization you need to contact. It is called Hospice, they are a health care organization that offers health care, and end of life care. Even if you decide not to use there services, they can give you some good information that you will need to deal with these issues.

I know it is hard to make these choices, my mom has Alzheimer's also. We chose to make hers days as comfortable as possible and not use heroic measures to prolong the inevitable
