My mum has bipolar.
What if it happens to me as well?
Answers:
Yes hang on in there. Some tablets can have really strange side effects until the body becomes accustomed to them. May take up to three weeks before they kick in. However, and this is important if you continue to get strange effects from them after this period you must go back and speak to your GP as they may not suit you.
I cannot say whether you will develop bipolar...if you need reassurance speak to your GP. I know that often poeple on this type of medication often find it hard to go back to sleep once woken. Could you not take it before you go to bed instead of having to wake up to take it? This way you ought to get a decent nights sleep.
Good luck and I hope that the medication soon kicks in.
I'm on fluoxitine it takes a few weeks to kick in hang on in there. All the best.
There 's no problem with being bipolar if you can work out a way to manage it.
I used to take Fluoxetine at night because taking them in the morning made me feel sick.
Hope this helps.
i agree with welshpikeymick it might be better for you to take at night instead after the first month any bad symptomns should subside
you should talk to ur doctor about these side effectsd u r having. also bipolar is not so terrible there are ways to treat it.
Fluoxetine shouldn't really present strong symptoms for the first two weeks. Could this be a combination of coming of the mirtazapine and the anxiety combined?
Any doubts, go back to the doctors.
Good luck.
Hi hon, do talk to your doctor about the side effects as well as your possible concerns re bipolar. I've had bipolar for over ten years, it's fully possible to live life to the full and it can be very well controlled - and you can love life! But talk to your doctor - you may be able to take the Prozac (fluoxetine) at night though it may give you funny dreams at that time, whatever way, all the best
I think different medications work for different people for a variety of reasons. A week is very short and fluoxetine doesn't take effect for a few weeks. Side effects in the first few weeks include symptoms you have mentioned. It's up to you if you want to stick with it or go to your doctor for an alternative. I tried one anti-depressant that made me really ill so I changed to fluoxetine and after the initial first few weeks, it has been my saviour ever since. good luck with finding yours!
