Doe anyone know about Lexapro?

Question:
Are you using it or with someone who does? We are trying alternative methods, but my husband is becoming a different person entirely. Lastnight he actually asked me why I've been wanting him to spend time with me lately (like TV time after the kids go to bed). What a weird question. Any logical person would know the answer. When his depression gets the best of him he completely tunes out our family, we can't live like that. He was on Effexor but it stopped working so I have been researching different anti-depressants and LEXAPRO sounds good, it also comes in generic form so the insurance will cover most of it. Any experiences or thoughts?

Answers:
I've been on it for a couple years and I like it. Little to no side effects, this type of medication usually takes 3-6 months to feel full side effects as I am sure he experienced with Effexor. I reccommend it to all of my patients struggling with moderate anxiety/depression. But with all medications, it is important to talk with your doctor. Each medication affects each person differently and it is possible to go through a few different medications until you find the one that is right for your husband. Good luck!
different medications efect everyone differently. personally lexapro never worked for me, but i had some friends that it did help. u should talk to your husbands doctor about it. he/she might be able to help u explore your options better.
I was put on lexapro after my son was born 6mths ago. I had PPD, they gave me 10mg/pill, and at first it didn't work. Then my dr upped it to 20mg/pill. And it worked eventually.
I am not sure if it mostly used for PPD or any kind of depression. I hear Zanax works pretty good. I wish I could help you more. And good luck with your husband.
i took lexapro for about three months, the dr. started me out at 10 mgs and i felt so good i felt i could jump off a building and it wouldnt hurt,he said i was feeling too good and decreased my dosage,i felt ok,but had feelings of electrical charges in my body and my memory was shot.i discontinued it.i have been on a lot of antidepressants in my life, and this one made me feel more mentally unstable.different meds work different for each individual,so it would be safe to check with your dr.and at least give it a try,it may work good for him.
