How can you tell if you are bipolar?

Question:

Answers:
People with Bipolar disorder experience DRAMATIC shifts in moods that affect their lives, their jobs, their social situations, etc.

The majority of people with Bipolar disorder DO NOT have constantly changing moods.

In fact, the mood episodes last weeks and months. You may be manic for 2 months and depressed for 6 months with normal moods in between.

Rapid cycling is rare, even then it usually means 4 episodes per year

NOT EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY!

Symptoms of Mania include:
Spending alot of money
Driving fast
Talking fast
Having racing thoughts
Not needing sleep
Having alot of sex
Thinking you are on top of the world
Working too much
Bright colors, crisp sounds

Signs of depression:
Crying
Hiding in your bed and not leaving
Withdrawl
Suicidal thought
Suicide attempts
I am mildly bipolar. my symptoms are extreme highs and lows. When I am happy I am extremely happy and when I am sad I am depressed. IT is these extremes and not having a middle place which makes me bipolar. They also told me a symptom is my need to excessively spend when I am in down mood. These are just my experiences.
Go to a doctor...
You will swing back and forth like a pendulum and you may not be aware of it while doing it.You will become aware of it later and wonder--"What in the heck was I thinking?""Where did that come from?"
During Mania:
Loose thoughts will bounce around until you become infuriated at having no control over them.
You will get way UP and take stupid chances in life.Such as having a fling or getting fired for popping off at the boss. When you are up,you will feel indestructible.
During Depression:
When you are down,it will be like a black cloud has swallowed you whole. You will become despondent and may become suicidal. The bright sunshine and blue sky will mean nothing to you.You will lose hope.
There is no middle ground, that is something that disappears after a while. It is like being torn apart.
Talk to your doctor and get some meds,it will save your life and sanity.
Only a healthcare professional can evaluate you and make a diagnosis. Bipolar people, along with depressed people, spend a lot of their time in a very gloomy mood, often to the point where they are unable to function very well (make it to work every day, etc). If this is you, I urge you to see your physician or better yet, if your health plan allows it, a psychiatrist.

Don't wait. Medications are very effective for many bipolar and depressed people, and some types of counseling can also help. There's no reason to go on suffering when there's a fairly simple fix.
Have a doctor prescribe you abilify or lithium, and if you still have nasty moods, attribute it to your period :)
You can tell me anytime.
I GUESS IF YOU DONT LIKE THE COLD THEN YOUR BIPOLAR!!LOL
Talk to A doctor about the symptoms you have. There is no way someone could positively identify if you have bipolar on here. Read up on it, there is alot of information on the web and in a library. Please, if you suspect you have Bipolar Disorder in any way, shape or form... SEE A DOCTOR!! It is not wise to leave it untreated. My son has Bipolar Disorder and believe me the sooner you are treated, if you have it, the better!! Good Luck.
Since you asked, I have a couple of web sites that might help you answer that question..the first is psychcentral.com. On their home page they have several tabs with topics that you can explore..click on the one that says quizzes, then scroll down until you see one that says something about Bipolar, click on that link and it should take you to a series of questions that you can answer. You can then print out the quiz and the page that gives you your score and take it and show a trusted adult to let them know that you need help, then you need to go to your medical doctor and he may then refer you on to a psychologist or psychiatrist for further evaluation and counsel ling. The other web site you can visit to get some information is webmd.
A few weeks ago I was trying to tell if I was bipolar. I went to my phsycyatrist and she told me to keep a mood chart.
SHe told me to take one daily, 3 spots each day, and to return in three weeks. She also told me to underline the days i'm having my period.
