It sounds lke an obsessive-compulsive need to worry.
One lady I know has the same problem. Whenever she catches herself starting to fret about unimportant things she starts to count.
She immediately breaks the pattern and replaces the old unpleasant habit with a less offensive one.
Keep it simple.Think up some little thing, like singing a song, or remembering some other happy event, lke a loved one's smile, that you switch your mind to when you start to fret about the little stuff.
