Prozac? Good/Bad/Ugly??

Question:
Tell me what you know or experienced, i was put on 20mg once daily yesterday. Thanks

Answers:
I took Prozac and it didn't affect me at all. Different brands affect people in different ways. I've also tried Effexor and it didn't help, the only one that made a difference was Citalopram, but it severely impacted on my libido. I am starting on Amitriptyline now, hope it works out.
i was on it for 3 months for PMDD when i was 20. I stopped taking it because it made me SUPER hyper all the time. I was the most productive that i had ever been and lost a lot of weight but stopped taking them because i became obsessive compulsive from it. also i was only taking 20mg/day but it bothered other people that i could not sit still ever and when i tried to relax, my legs wouldnt stop- even when i would go to bed at night, my feet had to be constantly moving.
I have taken several different anti-depressants and never had the reaction I did to Prozac!
I absolutely could not function - practically could not speak in whole sentences!
But some people find this the best one for them - it's different for everyone.
i take 10 mg a day and it was the best this that a doctor could do 4 me. I have told them they should have given me this years earlier!
Good bad or ugly just about covers it cos it affects everyone a little different, reading your earlier replies confirms this - when it 1st came out I had high hopes following all the press hype but it didnt work for me..you need to try it & its going to be about 4-6 weeks before it fully gets in your system, ask your close freinds or family if they will monitor your moods etc as I find its very hard to judge for myself..if it doesnt work theres loads more to try I have Effexor which seems to help a little...personally Ive tried so many Im fed up with the various side effects & no one knows how or if its going to affect you badly as once again everyone is different..Good luck :-)
if you used it properly, it is good for you (as anti-depressant). but you can consume the generic one, the cheaper one, the name is Fluoxetine. and it is FDA approved
it all depends on the person, and the anti-depressant. ive taken prozac in the past and its one of the antidepressants that takes the longest for you to feel full effect.
Medications have different effects on everyone. My current prescrip is for Prozac, but I think it was only 10mg (my family physician didn't like presribing mental health meds) and it works good for me. I am due to be upped in dosage, and I can definetly feel the difference when I have been off (due to lag in prescrip fillings.) Honestly, you will have to wait and see.
