Why do you believe in God? Why you don't?
Question:
I believe there is nothing after death and there is no such thing as God. I don't need to be superwised for not to lie, not to steel, or not to do any kind of harm or crime to other critures. I simply don't do them.
Answers:
There are so many religons in this world, so who knows what religon is right? Personally, I don't believe in God for that reason. What makes Christianity so correct? Nobody has proven it, so any religon could be real.
I believe in Science, which is proven, not a belief. The belief of god was just made up by somebody.
So to narrow it down, Religon is a belief, science is proven.
I don't believe in God because I simply can't suspend disbelief. I don't believe in fairies either which I feel is in the same category as god created the world in 6 days
So what exactly are you asking, you asked a question, then say please don't answer? Answer or not?
I don't believe in God because, for one thing, there is no evidence of God.
But mainly I just stayed an atheist. Stayed in the default position. I can't make myself theist.
FYI: All people are born atheists.
I believe that there is something greater than us, but I do not believe that religion knows what it is.
Bible, Koran, Talmud, Gnostic scriptures...all written by men, not by God.
A god that wants war, wants peace, wants worship, demands obedience does not exist, we created that guy. The one that appears in those texts is an imaginary friend for grownups.
I think it's all in how you perceive what exactly "God" is.
Have you ever expected some good outcome from a completely messed up situation? That is Faith and you just Prayed; then, you believe in God.
This is a question I have had trouble with my whole life because like the rest I believe in science but there are questions that it can't answer and in my opinion there has to be something but what that I can not answer. to answer your question people need it to feel like they have something when they die even if there life suck now when they die it is going to be so much better it is a false sense of security that they need so they feel this does it for them.
I believe in a supreme being.not necessarily 'God'.
I believe there is an entity that created the first , as science calls it...atom, molecule, proton, and nutron...ect.
Otherwise how did they come into existence ?
If it was all a 'Big Bang'.where or how did that materialize form ?
I believe there are other dimensions, that we as humans have not the power within to understand.at this time.
If you can not destroy atoms, molecules, protons and neutrons.and their element only changes and then eventually comes back to its 'original' form.reincarnation is a great probability.
Knowledge, science, and the process of learning is constantly evolving and progressing for the way individuals think and respond.
Religions does not like this thought process and these teachings....stagnation and control is their front running objective.
However, I do have grandchildren who attend church and find no fault in their parents belief system.as long as it is a health, stable, and loving environment.
I'm gonna start with Adam and Eve. When God put them in the Garden of Eden He told them they could eat of ANY tree in the garden EXCEPT the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Okay? He said that anyone that even touched the fruit would surely die. What do you think of when you think of death? Most people think of physical death. But Adam and Eve didn't die did they? Yes, they did die. SPIRITUALLY! They were "separated from God." Anyways, when this happened their relationship with God was tarnished, I think there is another word though. Just because you are NOT a Christian doesn't mean you CAN'T do good deeds. It just means that you don't have that close PERSONAL relationship with God.
God will ALWAYS be there for YOU! He is the BIGGEST thing in MY life! He's helped me through a LOT! I may only be a teen but I've been through a LOT! God loves you and He will never give up on you like others may have in the past! He loves you SOOOO MUCH! Imagine if you had a son, okay? You sent him to die for all others because you could NOT live without them! God sent His ONLY son to die for you! He loves you that MUCH! I mean if you did that for someone that would prove EVERLASTING LOVE!
Imagine this if you would. If your driving in a car and it's raining you turn on the windshield wipers. The rain is like OUR sin. We sin SOOOO MUCH! Isn't it terrible? Anyway, God is like the windshield wipers! He keeps wiping AWAY our sins and forgiving us! He is THAT LOVING! When He forgives sins He FORGETS them!
I can NOT force you to believe in God! God will put you under conviction and you can choose to come to Him or turn away. So you say that "God CAN'T do EVERYTHING!" Well, your right. Other Christians on here are probably saying," She is so wrong." Wait just a minute. God CAN'T LIE! No matter what! So if He says that He sent His son to die then He did! I'm done "preaching" to you. IMHO, God is just a man made creation. Humans are so terrified about what they don't understand that they create dieties.
It is absurd to me that anyone can claim knowledge one way or the other. We just don't know and anyone claiming knowledge is just making it up.
OK, so you say you don't believe in God. Well that was what I once said. But the strange thing was I could never settle the matter in my mind. For instance, if I decided I didn't believe in the tooth fairy any more, I never felt like I needed to re-exaim my decision, where as with saying "There is no God," I kept finding myself battling with that idea. The more I pondered, the angrier the issue made me and the madder I got, the more I wondered why did THIS one question kept haunting me.
A really strange thing when you consider I came from a home where religion had NO value what so ever!
Then one day I decided to take a chance and silently said to myself, "OK God, so if you're real, show me!"
In a matter of days my mother started watching a TV show called the 700 club. At first I HATED listening to those idiot Christians and I even thought about throwing the TV out the window once just to shut them up! Then one day, I prayed the "sinner's prayer," honestly believing I could then tell everyone "Well, I tried," and then I could go back to living my miserable life.
I WAS WRONG!
It's been a long and often bumpy road since then, but I can say that Jesus has changed my life. He changed my life by gradually changing me. I have a greater peace and joy then I ever imagined possible. God has blessed me with good times, and he carried me through the bad. I love God, because I know he loves me. And just as importantly, He loves you more then you can dream possible!
So, go ahead, just quietly ask Him to prove if He's real. If I lying, then you'll know. But if I'm not, then the choice is entirely up to you.
I am a good person who leads a good life. I don't believe in God either. It is something I've never felt. I grew up in a Catholic family and attended church every Sunday. I'm even confirmed. But I have never believed it. My family knows, I do not pretend that I am faithful, because that would be lying to myself. They say you have to have "Faith" but faith isn't something you can force, it is just something you have. I always just tell people if "your God wanted me to believe in him, then I would have faith" and the conversation usually ends there. Just keeps living a good life, and if in the end there is a god, you've done all you can do.

god and faith , in general are incorporated in our mind from childhood period, a kind of heritage from our family, it is a major component of the super ego, if you like it or not.
all the same , you have the right to believe or not , it is a free world you know.still non believers are more prone to depression and suicide than others.

i am an atheist, and have been for several years. I simply dont believe in the stuff because there is no way that any of the stuff in the bible is possible. i mean, how could an entire sea be parted or men knock down walls by walking around them??!! as much as i dont believe in that nonsence, i most certainly dont believe in the scientific bull crap that scientists are feeding us... big bang? what kind of crap is that??!! some big explosion happens and all of a sudden there is some moldy pond scum that comes together and eventually "evolves" into a human being! that is complete bull! i figure ill take my chances and not beileve in anything and if i end up in hell (if that is real), then at least ill be w/ ppl who know how to have fun!
